Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Manager/ Leader to support the developmental and emotional needs of children in a nurturing environment. The manager at Lexie's Little Bears child care oversees the daily operations of 4 early childhood programs on our 4-acre campus. This role provides leadership and support to staff, ensures high-standard and quality program delivery, and upholds licensing, safety and our reggio philosophy standards.

The hours of this position can be flexible to support your own family's needs. Hours ranging from 9 to 1 pm Monday through friday. This role involves being the on-site Manager/ECE, with extensive knowledge of how a childcare centre runs, while ensuring the safety and wellness of the staff, families and their children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and possess relevant experience in managing people, leadership, strong communication, office skills and early childhood education

Duties



Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of 4 outdoor, nature-based ECE/IT programs to ensure they are developmentally appropriate, safe, and aligned with Lexie's vision. Monitor day-to-day program operations, ensuring smooth transitions, consisitent routines and high-quality educational experiences in nature. Supervise , mentor and support staff of aprox 14 ece/IT members, fostering a positive, balanced and collaberative work environment. Oversee planned activities to ensure safety and engagement Support Staff to plan and implement nature based, Reggio-inspired,age-appropriate outdoor activities that support the children's physical, emotional and cognitive growth Create, manage and regularly update staff schedules to ensure proper coverage across all programs. Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff coverage during staff illness and holidays Build strong relationships with families through consistent, confident and supportive communication Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster confidence and independence in the staff, the children and their families Communicate effectively/professionally with parents or guardians regarding their child Strong, professional office skills (when answering the phones, responding to emails, and engaging in conflict) Utilise tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word Oversee fee paymants, tracking, and communication with families regarding billing or payment-related matters Maintains a clean, organised, and safe environment conducive to our Little Bears standards Support staff with their questions, concerns and everyday programming by conducting regular team meetings, check ins and performance evaluations. Able to work in our office environment and step onto the floor when needed maintain compliance with knowledge of VIHA standards, licensing requirements, reporting methods, office/computer skills and all administration work directly comminucate with licensing, file reports, maintain licensing standards and assist during scheduled visits Implement all of our new student registrations and all parent facility tours plan and implement professional development opportunities for staff on our Pro D day uphold the highest standard of professionalism at all times Ensure outdoor spaces and all buildings are safe, engaging, well maintained and respected Support and coach staff in providing environemnts that are aesthetically pleasing and developmentally stimulating

Experience



knowledge of the childcare business Experience working as a Manager Experience dealing with staff and standards of care Background in early childhood education ( 5 years plus) Proven caregiving/leadership experiences demonstrating patience, empathy, and reliability Familiarity with child development principles and safety protocols in childcare settings Managment of program records, attendance, incident reports, and all licensing documents Must be able to answer your phone outside of regular business hours report directly to owners daily
QUALIFICATIONS:

*A valid ECE certificate or higher

*Min. 3-5 years experience working as an ECE, supervisory or management experience

*Familiar with Microsoft office, including EXCEL. word and Gmail

*Strong communication and leadership skills, with confidence in decision making and team guidance

*Knowledge of outdoor, nature-based environments and a love for being outdoors in all weather!

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
