full-time permanent
opportunityand primarily involves working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends required during peak periods, such as the fiscal year-end.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Manager, Financial Reporting & Planning
drives accuracy, insight, and strategic alignment across the Co-op. You are a professional that brings solid experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital asset planning ensuring our leaders have the data and analysis needed to make informed decisions. A collaborative leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and an excellent communicator who can translate financial insights into clear, actionable information. This role blends technical financial expertise with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach, supporting the growth of our multi-site retail operations while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance. A strong operational and analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail is required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will be working with a team to complete the financial reporting for 31 fuel, liquor, and grocery locations. Responsibilities include:
Financial Operations
- Oversee day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and period-end close processes.
Reporting
- Prepare timely financial packages, ensure variance analysis is meaningful, and align KPIs with operational goals.
Lead and Develop Your Team
- Mentor, coach, and build a capable, high-performing Finance team positioned for growth. Partner with leadership and People & Culture on staffing, cross-training, and meeting critical deadlines.
Internal Controls
- Maintain and adapt controls to meet organizational needs and changing regulations.
External Audits
- Coordinate year-end reporting under ASPE, prepare supporting documentation, and liaise with auditors.
Tax Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely remittance and filing of commodity taxes.
Budget & Forecasting Processes
- Lead the annual budget cycle and support ongoing operational forecasting.
Capital Asset Planning
- Collaborate with business units on long-term capital investment plans.
KPI & Performance Reporting
- Partner with leaders to refine reporting that supports strategic decisions.
Financial & Operational Trends
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement and cost efficiencies.
Tools & Processes
- Maintain and evolve reporting templates, financial systems, and automation initiatives.
Collaborate Across Functions
- Work with IT and other departments to ensure consistent, accurate financial data.
WHAT YOU BRING
Experience:
3-5 years in a progressive finance leadership role, ideally in a multi-site or retail/co-operative environment with a proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, external audits, and internal controls.
Education:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required, with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Advanced knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS), proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
