Job Description


The Manager, Finance reports to the Director, Finance and works remotely with an option for hybrid (partial time in the Halifax office/partial work from home) or in the office.

Remote, within Canada or at our office in Halifax, NS

We are seeking an individual to support the finance department with hands-on transactional-level tasks. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in Excel and have a keen eye for detail when it comes to spreadsheets. If you like new challenges, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and learn new tasks quickly, this role could be the perfect fit for you. Reliability and numerical accuracy are a must, along with strong ethics with an ability to manage confidential data.

Duties, responsibilities and tasks of the employee in the role of the MANAGER, FINANCE are as follows:

Finance & Accounting

Produce monthly consolidated and divisional financial reporting

Process accounting transactions including accounts payable and customer invoices

Reconcile balance sheet accounts

Posting month-end journal entries

Process payroll

Support the annual planning process, create budgets and forecasts

Process HST and other government remittances

Statutory reporting

Assist with year-end audit work

Ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned

Human Resources

Assist with scheduling interviews

Assist with screening candidates

Assist with onboarding new employees

Assist with the organization of social events and employee awards

Other HR duties as required

Qualifications

Successful completion of a recognized Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree with an Accounting focus

3-5 years full cycle accounting experience

Experience with Xero or Quickbooks online would be an asset

Experience with ADP or Ceridian payroll systems would be an asset

Must be proficient in the use of computers and related software (ie. Microsoft Office, G-Suite)

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Have high attention to detail * Ability to work independently and in a growing team environment

Time management is essential, as well as being able to prioritize and multitask
