In Family Office Services (FOS), we act as personal CFO's for high-net-worth families. We offer a customized approach for each family, which includes services such as cash management, lifestyle management, integrated financial planning opportunities as well as day-to-day accounting and compliance needs.

Position overview :

Richter currently has an opportunity for a Compliance Manager within FOS Services.

The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of accounting for investments and partnerships, sound knowledge of corporate and personal income taxes as well as a good understanding of financial products in order to serve the interests of a high-net-worth client base.

A day in the life of a Compliance Manager, FOS Services :

  • Monitor the financial information of the families receiving personal CFO services from the division.
  • Serve as the primary contact person for the families regarding accounting and fiscal matters.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to identify opportunities and provide recommendations to the families based on their needs.
  • Coordinate financial activities with family advisors such as bankers, accountants and lawyers.
  • Navigate and understand complex structures involving investment companies, trust companies, partnerships and multiple generations.
  • Conduct mandates with professional standards using sound methodologies and techniques.
  • Coordinate, supervise and provide training to staff in the preparation of financial information and tax returns.
  • Efficiently review compilation engagements as well as corporate, personal and trust returns.
  • Coordinate and manage various compliance requirements and deadlines.
  • Provide financial projections, tax estimates and a complete analysis of the client's pro forma information (understand the implications of the transactions and their tax impact).
  • Gain an understanding of the investments including understanding of the accounting, fiscal and legal implications.
  • Offer advice on optimizing cash flow and on the overall structure.
  • Recommend tax strategies in consideration of remuneration planning, distribution of income among family members, CDA balances, and safe income.
What we are looking for :
  • CPA designation
  • At least 5 years of experience in related duties
  • Bilingual in French and English (written and oral)
  • Experience in a Family Office, an asset
  • Ability to work in a growing, fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented, conscientious and resourceful
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and team work
  • Computer literate in MS Office package, and comfortable with learning new software packages
English is required for the position in Montreal for business reasons and to serve external and/or internal English speaking clients
