The Communications & Connections Team is currently seeking a
Manager, External Relations & Communications
to join our team. The Manager, External Relations & Communications will lead Explore Edmonton Corporation's (EEC) strategic engagement with key external groups, strengthening relationships that advance organizational goals, enhance corporate reputation, and elevate Explore Edmonton's brand among partners, stakeholders, community organizations, and government. The role is responsible for stakeholder communications, government and public policy engagement, corporate and partner events.
Reporting to theDirector, Communications & Connections, the role will drive cross-organizational collaboration to support Explore Edmonton's strategic priorities. The role will provide direction on stakeholder experience, brand-aligned messaging, corporate engagement, and partnership initiatives.
The Communications & Connections department is part of our Corporate Services Group. This group is a team of service-minded individuals who are passionate about developing and implementing smart, customer-focused business processes. This team serves multiple internal customers and comprises key business enablers and trusted business partners who deliver superior customer service through collaboration, innovation, partnerships, and leadership, ensuring the best possible user experience. In alignment with the needs of Explore Edmonton, services include providing governance advice and support, offering scalable business solutions, and creating value for employees by building and facilitating connections across the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies and initiatives that advance Explore Edmonton's business priorities and reputation.
Acting as the organizational knowledge holder for major partners, stakeholders, shareholders, and community relationships.
Maintaining accurate stakeholder databases and leading Explore Edmonton's CRM stakeholder lists.
Building and sustaining productive relationships with industry partners, associations, community organizations, and Indigenous stakeholders.
Identifying and coordinating networking and hosting opportunities that strengthen stakeholder relationships.
Monitoring and analyzing trends, issues, and opportunities in Alberta's visitor economy, identifying reputational risks and strategic opportunities.
Leading the development of a corporate events strategy and oversee/execute event planning for events such as roundtables, receptions, townhalls.
Coordinating meetings and engagements between Explore Edmonton leadership and key stakeholders.
Developing stakeholder consultation processes and feedback mechanisms to ensure Explore Edmonton programs and communications meet stakeholder needs.
Supporting corporate reputation-building initiatives and represent Explore Edmonton in a professional, stakeholder-centric manner.
Advising executive leadership on hosting and engagement opportunities, relationship-building initiatives, and emerging stakeholder issues or feedback, ensuring leaders are informed and prepared.
Leading, mentoring, and supporting the Communications & Events Advisor, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
Overseeing Explore Edmonton's outgoing sponsorship opportunities, including evaluating requests, coordinating approvals, managing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, brand, and stakeholder engagement objectives.
Supporting the delivery of government relations and advocacy strategy aligned with Explore Edmonton's business priorities and the broader visitor economy.
Monitoring and assessing policy, legislative, regulatory, and council activities that may impact Explore Edmonton.
Advising internal leaders on the business implications of government actions and emerging public policy issues.
Managing the stakeholder & government relations budgets.
Developing stakeholder-focused messaging, briefing packages, and communications materials.
Leading Explore Edmonton's corporate, stakeholder, and partner-focused social media strategy, with an emphasis on LinkedIn.
Ensuring communications are consistent with Explore Edmonton's brand, tone, and strategic priorities.
Supporting the development of speeches, presentations, and run-of-show materials for stakeholder-facing events and engagements.
Overseeing the execution of Explore Edmonton's monthly industry stakeholder newsletter.
Contributing to corporate website content related to stakeholders, partnerships, and industry updates.
