  • Monitor enterprise risks, maintain risk dashboards/heat maps and the risk register for Senior Leadership and Board reporting.
  • Liaise with the hospital's insurer (HIROC) and external legal counsel on corporate risk, contracts, and claims; analyze trends to inform proactive mitigation.
  • Support leaders and teams through medico-legal processes; synthesize learnings to update policies and training.
  • Coordinate RMH responses to product recalls and hazard notices, ensuring compliant reviews, analysis, and follow-up.

  • Provide on-site risk support during Emergency Codes and unplanned service disruptions.
  • Lead development and evaluation of Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Plans; assess risks tied to high-risk utility shutdowns or redevelopment projects.
  • Manage RMH's annual legislative compliance attestation and monitor new regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee RMH's insurance portfolio (renewals, liability, property, crime); advise on coverage needs for contracts/events/partnerships.
  • Deliver risk education, coaching, and capacity-building workshops for leaders, staff, and physicians.
  • Prepare Board-level risk updates and communications that embed risk into everyday decision-making.
  • Prepare regular ERM, claims, and compliance reports to the Director, Senior Leadership, and Board committees; participate in or chair committees.
The above duties and responsibilities are not to be considered all inclusive. May be requested to complete other duties in the interest of the efficient operations of the Hospital.
Essential Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years progressive risk management experience in healthcare or a comparably complex environment.
  • Demonstrated enterprise risk, compliance, or corporate governance experience; medico-legal, insurance, and contract risk review are assets.
  • Familiarity with incident systems (e.g., RL6), enterprise risk registers (e.g., HIROC tools), and risk data analysis/reporting.
  • Strong grasp of ERM frameworks and mitigation strategies; advanced analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation; able to influence across disciplines and levels.
  • Confident report-writing/presentation for senior and Board audiences; able to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis.
