About the Role:
The Manager, Engineering is responsible for all aspects of facility Engineering for Rogers Place. Reporting to the Director, Engineering, the Manager, Engineering has responsibility for the operation, maintenance and repair/upgrades of the physical infrastructure and a variety of systems including but not limited to: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and other mechanical equipment for our multi-purpose sports and entertainment facilities.
Your Focus in this Role:
Develop and facilitate operating procedures and maintenance programs that conform to manufacturer's recommendations for systems, purchased equipment and corporate standards, which are customized to the specific needs of the facility
Continue to improve and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System
Participate in the development of and administration of the Operations budget including forecasting and ongoing monitoring
Develop and maintain an energy management program including continuously seeking ways to develop and implement energy savings programs and procedures as well as implementing sustainability programs where feasible
Inspect operating function to evaluate efficiency methods, and investigate, analyze and resolve operational and maintenance issues
Lead and support a diverse team, including contractors, in the operation and maintenance of a multi-purpose facility on a day-to-day basis, focusing on HVAC and Ice Plant functions, ensuring all team members are properly trained
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including safety codes, hazardous materials standards, licenses, recordkeeping and permits while promoting a safe working environment for tenants and patrons
Contribute to the maintenance and stewardship of the facility's technical library and files
Responsible for execution of the facility's Hot Work and Fire Alarm Bypass procedures

Education, Experience and
Skills
High School or Technical School diploma or combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Valid Province of Alberta, or Inter-provincial Fifth Class or higher Power Engineer's certificate is required
5+ years, (including 2 years managing an operations/maintenance team) of experience in facility operations
Demonstrated knowledge of sports facility operation is required
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics
Experience with operation and maintenance of ice resurfacing machines is preferred
Knowledgeable in all applicable regulations such as building codes, fire and health department regulations, OH&S, etc.
Functional knowledge of facility maintenance including but not limited to ice maintenance/operation, electrical systems, centrifugal chillers, HVAC systems, steam, ammonia refrigeration, plumbing systems and equipment control systems
Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs and familiarization with computerized maintenance systems is an asset
Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve above expectation results
