About the TalentED Greater Calgary Project
The Province of Alberta is working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. TalentED Greater Calgary will generate work-based learning opportunities for youth ages 18-24 by engaging small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits across the greater Calgary region. This project will increase employer engagement with youth, and apply an innovative and collaborative approach.
Job Summary
The
Manager, Employer and Community Engagement
will lead the industry and community engagement activities for TalentED Greater Calgary by proactively building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders. The role leverages a business development mindset to strategically identify opportunities to create meaningful work-based learning (WBL) for youth, expand TalentED's reach, and generate leads for project funding. The incumbent will manage relationships with industry associations, Chambers of Commerce, non-profits, employment centres, and post-secondary institutions. They will oversee the delivery of artificial intelligence (AI) training, support the implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and technology platform processes, and ensure accurate data tracking.
This is a full-time contract position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development
Develop an employer and community engagement strategy based on learnings from the TalentED YYC pilot project, consultations with stakeholders, and existing CED connections.
Recruit key internal and external stakeholders, such as industry associations, Chambers of Commerce, non-profits, employment centres, and post-secondary institutions, to align strategic engagement plans across CED and amongst collaborators.
Lead the establishment of wraparound support and placement/job search resources for youth (i.e. resume reviews, interview preparation, etc.) by collaborating with employment centres and post-secondary institutions.
Coordinate and provide feedback to TalentED Operations and Technology team to establish clear processes for CRM and technology platforms to improve user experience for employers, youth, stakeholders, and team members.

Collaborate with TalentED director to communicate the engagement strategy to the project's advisory committee.
Generate potential TalentED Greater Calgary project funding leads through interactions with diverse organizations and refer leads to director.
Ensure accurate input and tracking of KPIs from Employer and Community Engagement Specialists by clarifying and following-up on data, as needed.
Ecosystem Development
Create engagement opportunities with employers by working closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Chambers of Commerce, non-profits, CED units (e.g., business development, Investor Experience), and CPHR. Attend relevant events as needed to foster relationships.
Maintain relationships with career services or WBL teams at post-secondary institutions to communicate best practices and processes for employer engagement.
Assign Employer and Community Engagement Specialists as dedicated points of contact for employers and community-based collaborators for ongoing support and/or coordination.
Collaborate with Operations and Technology team to establish follow-up processes and pipelines for employers and stakeholders.
Employer Support
Lead and coordinate work of Specialists who serve as primary contacts for employers and supports within the community, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations.
Establish a clear employer and community engagement pipeline for Specialists to follow-up with and support stakeholders throughout the WBL outreach, posting, and placement process.
Coordinate with Specialists to deliver AI training for employers and AI bootcamps for youth.
Drive the adoption and tactical deployment of tools, processes, and resources (e.g., project templates, wage subsidy/funding for WBL, skills assessments for youth) developed or sourced by TalentED.
Develop WBL opportunities that will be mutually beneficial to employers and youth by working with hiring managers within various SMEs and non-profits.
Collaborate with TalentED Secretariat and stakeholders to host events and workshops for employers.
Understand and lead the implementation of employer and community engagement practices that are inclusive and responsive to the needs of marginalized or underrepresented groups.
People Management
Lead a team of specialists focused on employer and community engagement and support; ensure team members understand role expectations and are fully engaged.
Set direction and vision for the Employer and Community Engagement team, assigning tasks, roles and responsibilities to direct reports.
Communicate with team members regularly to assess workload and determine priorities for the team; amending project work on a continual basis and directing workflows.
Provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports, supporting their personal development and growth, and conduct scheduled performance reviews.
Ensure adequate training is provided to staff, and tools/resources are supporting workflow and quality output.
Manage vendors working with Employer and Community Engagement team and oversee budget, contract deliverables, purchase orders, and invoices.

Education
Post-secondary education such as a degree in business administration, human resources, or management.
CPHR designation considered an asset.
Experience
Minimum 5 years in business development, human resources, consulting, or stakeholder engagement/management, with 1- 3 years of progressive management and leadership responsibilities.
Previous experience supporting employers and/or jobseekers would be an asset.
