The Unit Manager of Intensive Care and Emergency performs a leadership role in Intensive Care and Emergency and reports directly to the Director of Patient Care. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the patient care service in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. In addition, this position is responsible for making key decisions and direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievements of the patient care service goals specific to Intensive Care and Emergency. The Unit Manager of Intensive Care and Emergency is also responsible for: Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders Facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Director within the services area. The development and maintenance of an effective framework for the operations of the patient care service in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care. Maintains and imparts an expert level of understanding of clinical and functional policies, processes, procedures, systems and standards. Manages the implementation of patient care program operations; ensures that the services produce results aligned with needs of patients: implements and monitors measures to minimize risk. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
