Objective:


The Drafting Manager is responsible for the activities undertaken by the Production Drafting Team including maintaining working drawings and producing accurate customer drawings based on contractual documents and company procedures.

Responsibilities:

Lead the production drafting team to produce accurate working drawings as per the contract documents and company procedures, and ensure all required documentation is completed (design and estimating checklist). Manage the drafting team's performance, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting regular check-ins. Monitor and respond to design requests from the sales team to support the sales process as needed. Participate in new agreement reviews and provide feedback and follow-up items for the sales team during the conditional period. Collaborate with architectural control officers to resolve issues and ensure designs meet guidelines. Assist in the research and development of new designs, attending show home tours as requested. Support cost control and estimating teams with drawing revisions, updated stock plan sets, and structural/code compliance advice. Collaborate with the construction teams, attending meetings and conducting site visits as needed. Ensure technology standards are maintained for AutoCAD and support with file management. Review change order requests and ensure execution by the team, providing direction as needed. Assist in identifying, establishing, and executing standard operating procedures for the production drafting team. Consult with the Production Manager to ensure weekly production schedules are met.
Drive 'Continuous Improvement' program to maximize key performance indicators
(KPI's)Organize training and assistance for production staff.

Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of experience leading a successful team Minimum of 8 years in residential architectural design Extensive knowledge of the current building code and local bylaws Possess an Architectural Technologist Designation from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent. Proficiency in the use of Auto CAD is considered an asset. Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications Team player with strong written & verbal communication and a drive for excellence. Energetic individual with great attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Work Conditions:


Traditional core working hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
