We are currently seeking a technology-minded data management professional with a strong understanding of the investment management industry. This is an exciting new role that will give the successful candidate the opportunity to join the leadership group and help grow and strategically move forward the Client Reporting team. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department is the corporate face and voice to BCI\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external audiences. CIR functions as the primary interface with our clients and strives to internally represent their specific interests and unique needs. CIR works closely with governing fiduciaries and trustees and, working with our BCI colleagues, assists clients with developing their investment strategies, policies and objectives.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Client Reporting, the Manager, Data & Systems identifies and implements technologies that support the mission of the Client Reporting team while driving forward day-to-day reporting tasks. This role has two core components: oversight and ownership of data and systems, and delivering on day-to-day reporting.

Data & systems: The Manager creates and executes on a compelling data and systems vision and establishes innovation practices within the team to continuously extend capabilities and performance. Overseeing a portfolio of IT systems and data products owned by the Client Reporting team, the Manager ensures the successful development and delivery of new features, quality control, and operations support. The Manager identifies opportunities to introduce solutions to increase productivity, realize efficiencies, deliver new capabilities, and reduce operational risk.

Day-to-day reporting: The Manager is a core part of the day-to-day reporting team. When the reporting cycle arrives each quarter, all other work is paused while the team focuses on delivering 37 client reports while continuing to respond to ad-hoc queries as needed.

What you bring
Must have :

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services, investment management, and technology

  • Demonstrated experience and passion in delivering technology solutions that achieve meaningful operational successes and innovation

  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Information Systems Management or similar

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated drive to get things done

  • Experience with Agile development, testing, continuous integration, and deployment as well as change management methods

  • Working knowledge of C#, Python, VBA, PowerShell, SQL

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to facilitate and present to a range of stakeholders from business and technology teams

Preferred:

  • Professional financial designation, preferably CFA

  • Ability to develop solutions within the Microsoft stack


WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Client Reporting team focus on supporting our client\xe2\x80\x99s fiduciary oversight and decision-making by delivering quality reporting that is relevant, timely, and in line with industry best practices. This is a relatively new team that works well together and in a positive and fun environment.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Collaborates with BCI departments including Finance, Asset Classes, and Technology to accomplish the following:

Research & Development

  • Researches and evaluates ideas, trends, and technologies relevant to Client Reporting

  • Works with Client Relations Managers to keep informed about client needs

  • Synthesizes requirements and plans and executes the development


Quality Assurance

  • Ensures the quality of client reporting data products

  • Leads the overall testing and troubleshooting of new and enhanced functions

  • Facilitates the change management process by communicating the impacts of changes


Vendor / Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Builds positive relationships with vendor support organizations, BCI Technology group, and data owners/content producers


Operations Support

  • Prepares systems and ensures the systems remain operational

  • Actively supports operations and troubleshoots technical problems

  • Employs technology to improve operational processes


Core Reporting Support

  • Builds data and report validation processes to ensure accurate reporting

  • Contributes to other quality controls for client reporting; ensures client deliverables/metrics are met while maintaining proper documentation with adherence to standards and industry best practices

  • Responds to client and internal data requests with an additional layer of analysis and data scrutiny

  • Goes beyond providing data by proactively responding to root questions, anticipating stakeholder follow-up questions. Finds proper solutions to resolve any data-related business requests, which may include building self-serve tools, utilizing the existing data market place/Vision FI for more use cases, etc.

  • Leads and guides associates to resolve more complex data requests, write insightful commentaries, and build more comprehensive data charts

  • Supports and collaborates with other CIR teams (i.e., Client Relations, Client Experience, and Corporate Communication) and BCI departments (i.e., Asset Classes, ISR, and Finance) to enable efficient production and sharing of high-quality reporting content for client audiences


Cross CIR Support

  • Assists the broader CIR team with developing solutions to track traffic flow across multiple external corporate, client, and internal staff websites

  • Represents CIR in BCI\xe2\x80\x99s data governance and access initiatives


WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Work hybrid from our downtown Victoria office, with a typical schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.
