Overview

Are you an experienced technology professional with successes providing data engineering and data governance leadership? Are you a thought leader motivated to shape data and analytics strategies?

Reporting into the Director, Analytics and Data Lifecycle Services (ADLS), as the Manager, Data Strategy and Delivery you would be responsible for driving the organizational data strategy from within the ADLS department in the Innovation and Technology Division.

Leading and managing a team of up to 15 people, you will be a key influencer in the planning and decision-making activities related to analytics delivery, data strategy and governance, data management, data architecture, and data coding.

This is a hybrid role that will primarily work at home and be on-site at our Richmond office occasionally.

What you'll do

As the manager of data strategy and delivery you will:

  • Influence data investment strategies by helping key business roles understand how improved access to data, measures, and analytics will help manage their business
  • Plan and lead the analytics data lifecycle management practice for the organization, achieving measurable success in data architecture, data acquisition, data quality, data privacy, data security, and master data management
  • Deliver data for analytics and provide data architecture services for application development and maintenance, ensuring data quality, privacy and security
  • Participate as a member of the Divisional management team in business planning activities, implementing changes and initiatives as required
  • Create a supportive and healthy working environment within the team by providing support, ensuring effective communication, promoting teamwork, providing opportunities for staff involvement in planning and recognizing employees' contributions and achievements
  • Plan and manage the annual cloud operating budget for the area including monitoring of ongoing financial reporting, investigation of variances, taking corrective action as required
  • Promote the strategies and objectives of WorkSafeBC and the division within and outside of the organization and may represent WorkSafeBC and the division with external stakeholders and agencies as required

We're looking for someone who can:
  • Utilize thought leadership in data and analytics to plan and influence a data-driven, evidence-based decision-making culture
  • Maintain a deep level of analytics knowledge and expertise, particularly in data warehousing / data engineering, production analytics (e.g., reports and dashboards), self-serve analytics, measurement, advanced analytics / data science, and other analytics technologies
  • Seeks to continuously identify and improve services, processes, and practices
  • Provide leadership and create a supportive working environment, set performance goals, provide coaching, and support staff development
  • Maintain positive, client focused relationships with internal and external clients such as approved training providers, and Prevention Services Staff
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, at a level appropriate for the intended audience
Your experience and educational background:
  • A degree in technology, data analytics, or related discipline
  • At least seven years of experience managing a data delivery or analytics team
  • Experience working within a large complex unionized environment is an asset
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
