The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) is a global leader in the development of young hockey players, both on and off the ice. Position Summary



The

Manager, Culture and Community

will lead the OHL's efforts to build an inclusive, respectful, and community-connected league culture that reflects the diversity of the players, fans, and communities we serve. This role is responsible for designing and implementing programs that promote equity, respect, and player empowerment, while strengthening community relationships and social impact initiatives across the league.



Key Responsibilities





Player Training Programs



Oversee the OHLs Players First Program that support a positive, safe, and respectful culture within OHL dressing rooms, billets, and communities Collaborate with the league's partners and teams to support player education around consent, inclusion, leadership, and digital citizenship. Ensure consistent delivery and monitoring of league-mandated cultural training programs.

Community Engagement



Develop and lead the league-wide community outreach program - OHL Assists that engage local partners, charities, and social causes. Work with teams to amplify and align OHL Assists with their local community initiatives with broader league goals and social impact strategies. Serve as a public-facing ambassador of the OHL's social responsibility efforts.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)



Lead the development and execution of the OHL's EDI strategy in alignment with league values and goals. Provide guidance and training to teams on inclusive practices, anti-racism, and anti-discrimination policies. Act as a liaison between the league office and external advocacy groups, cultural organizations, and EDI experts.

Education Services



Support the delivery of the OHL's education services portfolio, ensuring all players have access to high-quality academic, vocational, and life skills programming during and after their playing careers. Support the administration of scholarship-related processes that directly support players' post-secondary and career development, including: Serve as a point of connection between scholarship programming and broader community and cultural initiatives, ensuring education services are delivered in a way that reflects equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB) values. Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote accessible education pathways, particularly for players from underrepresented or underserved communities. Work closely with the OHL Director of Education Services to align scholarship administration with the League's holistic player development goals, cultural programming, and community engagement efforts

Internal Culture & Workplace Environment



Champion a positive and inclusive culture within the OHL League Office, promoting collaboration, accountability, and respect among staff. Develop internal engagement strategies that support staff well-being, professional development, and alignment with the League's values. Work with department leaders to ensure internal practices reflect a safe, equitable, and supportive work environment. Serve as a trusted resource for employees to share feedback and raise concerns related to workplace culture and inclusion. Support the development and implement engagement strategies that strengthen relationships between league departments and team personnel, including regular touchpoints, workshops, and feedback mechanisms.

Program Development & Evaluation



Create measurable goals and tracking systems to evaluate the effectiveness of EDI, education, and community programs. Regularly report progress and findings to league executives, Governors, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications



Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in equity, inclusion, education, social work, or community development -- ideally in a sport or youth development context. Deep understanding of systemic issues facing marginalized populations, particularly in sport. Demonstrated success building partnerships across diverse communities and stakeholder groups. Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Experience developing and evaluating culture change or community impact programs. Knowledge of hockey and/or the junior sports environment is an asset. Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Education, Human Rights, Public Policy, or a related field.
