Job Title Manager, Credit Structures Intern



What is the opportunity?

As a key member of the Private Banking client relationship team, you will be the credit expert providing credit solutions to Private Banking clients such as business executives, professionals, multi-generational families and business owners. You will work closely with Private Bankers to understand client relationships and the client's financial goals in order lead effective credit discovery and advice conversations directly with clients. You will recommend credit solutions to clients, for a total single name exposures of up to $10MM that align with overall financial plans for clients and will follow through on the credit needs from discovery through to funding.

What will you do?

  • You partner with the Private Banker to deliver and provide exceptional credit experiences to Private Banking clients by understanding the overall financial goals of clients and recommending credit solutions that align to these goals.
  • You develop and implement well established routines focused on deepening client relationships through discovery, proactive credit advice and credit product recommendations.
  • You collaborate with the client relationship team members to deliver an exceptional client experience and as the credit expert you will proactively identify and take the lead on credit discussions during client relationship team meetings.
  • You determine viability of a transaction, ask robust discovery questions and collect material documents prior to underwriting and submitting for decision.
  • You provide recommendations to clients on how to effectively structure credit.
  • You prepare and submit directly, or work together with the Manager Private Banking Underwriting role to submit, credit proposals for approval for total single name exposures of up to $10MM.
  • You work with other internal partners to ensure effective execution of client requests.
  • You maintain portfolio quality and effectively manage risk through an understanding of policy, lending guidelines and the client's financial position.
What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • University / College Degree
  • 3-5 years lending experience in the banking industry, knowledge of business and/or personal lending products
  • Understanding of financial planning strategies, knowledge and demonstrable acumen with financial statement analysis
  • Experience in preparing for and leading discovery conversations with clients
  • Demonstration in working with internal partners to deliver an exceptional client experience
  • Demonstrated ability in effective practice management routines to help deepen client relationships
Nice-to-have
  • Business Markets and/or Commercial Banking experience is an asset
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and educational development
