The Manager Continuing Care Centre is to provide the overall management and delivery of programs and services to provide quality continuing care for clients in the Continuing Care facility. The position develops professional and community partnerships to consult and collaborate on developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services that meet the needs of client continuing care and which are in accordance with the policies, standards and practices of the Government of Nunavut, Department of Health.

This is a TRAVEL role. Applicant must be willing to be deployed in Canada for 30 days or more. We offer flexible agreement lengths, with long-term deployment incentives available. All travel and accommodation costs are 100% covered by CHL.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • The incumbent provides leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team. The provision of effective staff management directly impacts the ability and availability of those continuing care staff to provide quality care to the clients of the Continuing Care Centre.
  • The position is responsible for an annual budget allocated to provide Continuing Care Centre programs and services within the community. The decisions and recommendations made by the incumbent directly impact the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources, program and service delivery and financial budgets. This requires proper research to ensure that decisions align with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s priorities and best practice guidelines and ensure the effective use of funding. The incumbent ensures that the Continuing Care Centre programs and services function in an efficient, effective, client-focused manner within the constraints of the budget.
  • The incumbent maintains contact with the Government of Nunavut, Regional Health Services, Home and Community Care Consultants, Community Health Nurses, Physiotherapists, Physicians, and other healthcare professionals that are providing care and treatment to Regional residents to maximize the effectiveness of the program and service delivery. This position also meets with community groups, hamlet councils and local community service authorities to communicate the goals and objectives of the Continuing Care Centre and to develop and sustain community involvement.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma;
  • Current certification in CPR;
  • Current valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within Canada;
  • Two years of management experience, preferably in a continuing care setting;
  • Completion of a management training program would be an asset;
  • The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut\xe2\x80\x99s official languages is an asset;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent counselling skills;
  • Effective written and oral communication skills;
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office, health records software and internet searching;
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
  • Crisis intervention skills;
  • Assessment and case planning skills;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Conflict Resolution Skills;
  • Ability to teach/communicate effectively on an individual or group basis;
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting;
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;
  • Ability to plan, develop and evaluate programs and services;
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting, ensuring that Inuit Societal Values are acknowledged and maintained during patient and employee interactions.
Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination as per provincial Covid-19 Immunization and Management Policy.
Criminal records and vulnerable sector checks will be required.
