GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

As part of the Marketing Channel team within SaskTel, this position is accountable for:

  • developing, evolving and maintaining external channel and customer relationships in a highly competitive environment in order to sustain long term, stable, profitable and mutually beneficial relationships that meet or exceed revenue, customer satisfaction and market share targets;
  • ensuring the external channel provides proactive sales and customer care activities in order to create customer loyalty and commitment to SaskTel;
  • generating new revenue and maintaining existing revenue for SaskTel through external channels; and
  • garnering external channel loyalty to SaskTel and for managing external channel activities and programs.
LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES

People
1. Leads, directs and manages staff to ensure the effective use of HR resources. Maximizes performance by selecting (hire external or promote from within), developing, mentoring and sustaining a high level of expertise among staff. Organize and direct work including prioritizing assignments, establishing objectives, providing regular performance feedback, conducting year end performance appraisals and taking necessary corrective action as may be required. Assists in staff career planning, establishes development and succession plans and ensures relevant HR procedures and policies are followed (provisions of the collective agreement, performance appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc). Accountable for provisioning and managing contracted resources as may be required.
2. Accountable for promoting a productive and positive environment for staff that encourages innovation, teamwork, initiative and models corporate values. Motivates staff by assigning challenging work, planning and managing internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, plans and activities.
3. Ensures all safety, health, environmental and code of conduct policies, programs and standards are understood and complied with at all times.
4. Proactively identify and action opportunities to increase customer satisfaction (internal and external customers).

Financial
1. Ensure sound financial control within area of responsibility by developing annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring performance to budget and taking action as appropriate. Develops, negotiates and implements contracts for acquisition of goods & services related to area of responsibility.

Innovation
1. Accountable to research, develop, define and implement innovative long and short term plans, policies and objectives. Provides expertise to senior management providing education, studies and consulting on opportunities that will impact business strategy. Ensures alignment and integration with the corporate strategic plan and develops plan and operational metrics, including approaches for demonstrating business value.
2. Accountable to proactively identify and action opportunities to improve revenue and growth initiatives, decrease costs, increase customer service levels and increase employee engagement.
3. Accountable to develop opportunities to spark innovation in technology or product service delivery or process improvements.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.Generates new and protects existing revenues for all lines of SaskTel business sold through external channels to business and contribution to strategic and marketing plans.
2. Negotiates and influences both internally and externally leveraging the skills, expertise and reach of the channel in order to develop and deploy strategic initiatives with maximum benefit for SaskTel.
3. Develops and updates channel management strategies and initiatives and provide inputs into the strategic, business, and marketing plans.
4. Develops and enables channel management programs including commissioning, legal agreements, forecasts, quotas, customer and channel satisfaction measurements, advertising, and training certification.
5.Develops and employs appropriate competitive channel strategies, continually re-evaluating to determine appropriateness for the situation and to align with sales, market, and service imperatives.
6. Implements and manages displacement strategies by capitalizing on industry knowledge and professionally leveraging that with the senior management within the channels.
7. Negotiates, facilitates, and coordinates with internal and external suppliers and Bell Wireless Alliance partners to build positive business relationships which serve mutual benefit.
8. Establishes executive and non-executive relationships with external channels to ensure SaskTel solutions are marketed professionally and sales targets are achieved
9.Understands and influences external channels\' strategies through interviews, meetings, presentations, and channel education/training to ensure alignment with SaskTel\'s position for our solutions to maximize competitive advantage.
10. Facilitates joint business and strategic planning with external channels to share short and long term goals and objectives to identify opportunities and ensure consistency in focus and alignment with SaskTel\'s strategic initiatives.
11. Critically reviews the business strategy of a channel partner and clearly comprehends their direction and how to build our component of that channel partner\'s business.
12. Develops and negotiates channel contracts to ensure adequate channel representation of our services both in and out of province to deliver on our strategic imperatives.
13. Provides common point of contact for all external channel partners.
14. Develops a channel with the professional skills and abilities necessary to deploy and support current and future SaskTel solutions to successfully market them to customers and represent SaskTel.
15. Leads, plans, directs and influences a highly competitive business unit consisting of internal non-management personnel and external channel management and personnel.
16. Creates an environment where employees are empowered to make decisions based on customer needs, channel need sand SaskTel\'s strategic direction and are recognized and rewarded accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Bachelor degree in Business Administration/ Commerce. A combination of related business experience and education will be considered.
2. Minimum of 2 years of sales, marketing, and project management experience in a related competitive business environment.
3. Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
4. Demonstrated ability to apply techniques needed to persuasively promote sales of policies, programs, and products/services.
5. Must demonstrate and promote a high level of confidentiality.
6. Must practice and display a high level of commitment to the support and development of employees.
7. Must be willing to travel extensively and on short notice and work irregular hours in a demanding work environment.
8. Personal computer skills.
