Your Opportunity
The Manager, Community Support and Safety is responsible for leading initiatives that promote a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment. Reporting to, Dean of Students this role oversees community safety programs, responds to incidents, and conducts investigations related to student and employee conduct, safety concerns, and policy violations.
The Manager provides guidance on case management, ensures compliance with university policies and legislative requirements, and works collaboratively with campus partners and external agencies to address safety issues. Acting as a key resource for students, staff, and faculty, the Manager balances proactive safety planning with responsive support and investigative processes to enhance the overall campus experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct investigations into student and employee conduct, safety concerns, and violations of applicable University policies.
Coordinate responses to safety-related incidents, including risk assessments, threat management, safety plans and follow-up support.
Actively collaborate with internal stakeholders (students, staff, faculty, senior leaders, JHSC) to meet program and departmental goals and initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between Huron University and external partners like the London Police Services, Western Special Constables, and investigators.
Direct and guide the Huron's Security Manager and support the oversight of a 3rd party security team.
Lead and manage programs that promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, prepare reports, and track data related to safety reporting incidents and initiatives to leadership teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in the area of Law and Security, Police Foundations, Risk Management, or related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Seven (7) years experience conducting a range of investigations, trauma-informed interviews, safety planning, and dispute resolution and mediation.
Experience working in a post-secondary learning environment is an asset.
Working knowledge of relevant laws and legislation with a proven ability in applying it to a variety of settings.
Strong understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience: $85,000 - $103,000
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is available on a flexible schedule of 44 to 52 weeks per year, depending on the availability and circumstances of the successful candidate, subject to the operational needs of the University.
