MANAGER, COMMUNITY & PUBLIC SPACES

Public Programming

Reporting to the Director, Public Programming, the Manager, Community & Public Spaces will work in a fast-paced environment managing two key portfolios: Community Impact programming that promotes inclusion, social connection and creative empowerment among equity deserving groups, and Public Spaces programming to dynamically boost the TIFF Bell Lightbox year-round environment through programming partnerships, community partner co-creation, public art display, and artist activations that animate the building, increase foot traffic, delight Members and patrons, and attract new audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide the Senior Coordinator, Community impact in the oversight and implementation of the annual vision for Community Impact programming, including screenings, talks, workshops and events co-created with community partners to promote engagement, connection, and creative empowerment among equity-deserving groups at TIFF
  • Oversee and implement the annual vision for Public Spaces programming to dynamically boost the TIFF Bell Lightbox year-round environment through programming partnerships, partner and artist co-creation, public art display, and artist activations
  • Design intentional Community Impact and Public Spaces programming developed in consultation with partners and internal colleagues to reflect the specific goals, access needs, and objectives of each portfolio
  • Ideate and engage local artists, partners and guest speakers to contribute to these programmes and connect with audiences at TIFF
  • Steward relationships with community and programming partners, deepening and codifying annual terms of engagement and increasing their access across TIFF
  • Oversee the creation of resources (e.g., digital shorts shelf, workshop outlines, screening discussion guides) to support collaboration with guest artists, community partners, docents, and TIFF staff
  • Work with key internal teams and external partners to document, measure, and evaluate Community Impact and Public Spaces programming, providing impact reports to internal stakeholders as requested
  • Oversee film and guest bookings and support guests in their participation in events with community partners and public audiences
  • Consult and contribute to access and inclusion strategies across TIFF programming, including Visa Sharing the Screen, as well as collaborations with Visitor Experience, People and Culture, Corporate Partnerships and beyond
  • Pilot accessible and innovative audience enrichment activities for TIFF films that create space for reflection, inspiration, and learning
  • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, Social Media, Web, Corporate Partnerships, Loyalty teams to increase visibility of programmes and connect audiences with events
  • Oversee revenue and expense tracking for Community Impact and Public Spaces programming
  • General administrative duties as part of Public Programming portfolio, including: devising and managing critical paths and workflow structures (with input from direct reports), attending relevant cross-departmental programming meetings and updating key dept. tracking documents
  • Supervise two direct reports
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
  • Job Grade 3
  • $60,000-$75,000/ Annually
Requirements: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 4-6 years working in film, community arts, and/or public programming
  • Previous experience designing and implementing community and/or public programming
  • Previous experience working with artists, community and programming partners, and facilitators
  • Previous experience with project management, event planning and execution
  • Previous experience managing people an asset
  • Knowledge of and interest in film, contemporary arts, culture and social justice
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional computer skills and database management (including Google drive, database software)
  • Strong ability to work efficiently on many projects with varying deadlines, and anticipate priorities
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
