What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Community Programming and Outreach Services, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage and provide leadership for the Community Support Services team and the Community Programming team to ensure successful development and delivery of programs and inclusion services for children, youth, adults, and seniors
Manage program planning, evaluation processes, and implements strategies to meet divisional business plans, in alignment with the City's Get READI Plan, growing community needs, and strategic initiatives within the City
Provide oversight and leadership to full-time employees, part-time employees, and volunteers, including recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and performance management based on corporate practices
Actively demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction; leverages technology to enhance the customer experience
Conduct regular reviews of the section's performance relative to customer satisfaction, complaint resolution, potential partnerships, budget performance, divisional performance metrics and long term planning
Work collaboratively with internal partners including the READI team, Recreation Services, Marketing and Communications teams to ensure coordinated, seamless delivery and promotion of inclusive and accessible programming
Collaborate effectively with the operations team on community program matters related to the Pavilion and Recreation Complex
Establish and manage successful and achievable work plans to meet program goals and objectives while considering the core principles of inclusivity, accessibility and affordability within Community Programming and Outreach Services team
Create and manage the annual and ten (10) year operating and capital budgets for the section and integration into the division's budget, including oversight of the City's Ontario Health budget and associated performance measurement and reporting requirements; responsible for the planning, budgeting, forecasting of expenditures within the Community Programs section
Identify, assess, and manage risk with regards to program development, new initiatives, grant funding, and partnerships
Develop and maintain internal and external partnerships to leverage resources and to achieve maximum benefit for the City and the community
Remain current with best practices and provide expertise on services that directly affect children, youth, adults, seniors as well as the provision of direction inclusion support services within the organization and as they relate to other divisions and departments as needed
Identify and evaluate opportunities related to grant funding and assist in the preparation of applications to aid in program development and/or enhancement, ensuring effective project management is in place
Promote a supportive environment where employees can work collaboratively with other team members internal and external to the Department
Ensure a healthy and safe environment for customers and staff
Ensure community programs and inclusion services operate in full compliance with health and safety, accessibility, employment standards, and other relevant regulations and legislation
Prepare reports, presentations, and memos related to divisional needs and present findings to partners and senior management on initiatives and results within the division
Attend Council meetings, committees or other required public meetings as required to present recommended courses of action and updates on projects and initiatives
Participate on corporate committees, initiatives and projects as required

What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure, Health Studies, Gerontology, Community Development, Business, Public Administration, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years experience in the field of community services developing, delivering, and leading programs and services for children, youth, adults, and seniors. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Municipal, public sector or related work experience is preferred, with the ability to work with a variety of internal and external partners, including Council
Previous leadership experience managing cross-functional teams, developing staff, leading people through change, delivering high quality outcomes in dynamic environments, and fostering relationships across a large corporate setting
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Ontario Health funded Community Support Services in the Region and the Ministry's Senior Active Living Centre Program guidelines
Prior experience working with specialized populations and/or an understanding of best practices related to the provision of inclusive programs and services
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with the public, internal customers and other partners
Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate organizational plans with experience planning and managing budgets; Prior experience with project management as it relates to grants, overseeing budgets and associated deliverables
Excellent communication, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively
Ability to function well under pressure, and respond to the changing demands and priorities of others
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to think creatively, identify options and resolve complex issues
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment, and effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Proficiency using Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C or willingness to obtain
Willing to participate in ongoing training and development
Ability and willingness to travel to various worksites, as necessary, utilizing reliable, safe and efficient methods of transportation is required to perform the job

What we will require:
A Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City will be required as a condition of hire
