We are seeking a creative and dynamic professional with a passion for public safety, to lead our Corporate Communications team. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, the successful candidate will be a strong writer with demonstrated leadership experience in communications, media relations, and digital content strategy.

In this role, you will provide advice, assistance and consultation to the E-Comm leadership team on corporate and departmental communications strategies, issues, objectives and processes, as well as play a key role in communications activities related to labour and employee relations. You will provide oversight of responses to public enquiries and investigate escalated customer complaints/issues and recommend response strategies.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in media relations and be able to prepare clear, concise media advisories, releases and statements whilst also acting as our corporate spokesperson.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Leading, developing and mentoring a team of Communications Specialists, providing guidance and direction and a point of escalation
  • Overseeing the development of communications strategies and plans in support of a variety of internal and external business objectives related to E-Comm\'s corporate priorities; developing, recommending and managing the implementation of communications initiatives and messages
  • Researching and writing high-level communications materials such as speaking notes, speeches, news releases and key messages, strategic communication and media/social media plans, marketing materials and policy documents, as well as contributing to corporate publications as part of the editorial team
  • Researching, writing, editing and managing the production and dissemination of diverse communications materials including annual reports, articles, briefing notes, newsletters, bulletins, web and social media content, special features, multi-media presentations and public education resources
  • Advancing the company\'s digital and online presence and enhancing the company\'s public profile provincially and nationally
  • Taking a lead role during major events by assisting the VP with the development of key messaging and montoring responses form members of the public, media and public safety partners
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and management, the media, business and government organizations, stakeholders, community groups and members of the public.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
  • Completion of a diploma program in a relevant discipline from a recognized post-secondary University degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related discipline, plus sound related experience (5-7 years), or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, external stakeholder groups and partners, and members of the media, in routine and controversial situations
  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop and implement comprehensive communications plans and to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of operational and strategic communications plans
  • Knowledge of the concepts and techniques of multi-media and print production processes
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of graphic design, layout, photography and editing
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices related to social and mobile media as they relate to the work performed
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to develop a variety of communications materials such as news releases and website copy

SECURITY CLEARANCE:
As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is 5 years.
To qualify for this process, a candidate may be a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen. We regret any candidates under Student, Visitor, or Work Visas are not eligible for consideration.

E-Comm offers a competitive salary of between $112,000 and $ 131,800; this position is based in Vancouver, with the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements. Closing date for applications is July 21st, 2023
