You are a communications professional ready for a visible leadership role.


You've led complex initiatives. You know how to translate technical, policy, and business issues into compelling narratives. You're as comfortable advising executives and partners as you are shaping campaigns, pitching media, and guiding creative teams.

The Opportunity




As Communications Manager, you'll be a core leader on OCI's Marketing & Communications team, reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.


You will drive storytelling across Ontario's innovation economy, leading integrated campaigns, managing digital and media strategy, guiding team members and contractors, and playing a central role in OCI's flagship platforms, like DiscoveryX.


This role blends strategy and execution. You'll shape narratives and roll up your sleeves. You'll collaborate with staff, manage partners, own high-profile files, deal with media, write scripts and content, manage digital and social, and help position OCI as global leaders in innovation.

What You'll Lead



High-impact communications strategies aligned to OCI's business goals Media relations, story development, and executive positioning Integrated campaigns across digital, web, social, and thought leadership Content and creative direction for major initiatives and events, including DiscoveryX Crisis communications support and issues management Website and newsletter strategy and execution External agency and contractor relationships Collaborate with a small, high-performing team within a collaborative MARCOM function.

You'll also partner closely with program teams, government stakeholders, ecosystem organizations, and executive leadership to ensure OCI's work is clearly understood, widely seen, and strongly positioned.

Experience That Sets You Up for Success



5 years of progressive experience in communications, PR, or marketing Proven success leading initiatives, campaigns, and cross-functional files Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling ability Experience managing websites, content platforms, newsletters, and social channels Strong media relations background Comfort operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments Confidence managing budgets, agencies, and competing priorities.

Experience in innovation, technology, government, higher education, economic development, or adjacent sectors is a strong asset.
