Our Commercial Management Office is looking for a Manager, Commercial Management to join the team! You will provide oversight of commercial governance and decision-making including coordination across the corporation. You will also provide commercial options and strategic advice to Metrolinx partners and leaders.
What will I be doing?

  • Lead the governance process to secure approval of Stage Gate meetings and support the coordination of negotiation terms as part of progressing toward the Target Price and posterior contract award.
  • Coordinate and prepare governance material required for the approval of the Target Price through the stage-gate process.
  • Develop and maintain budget positions, governance papers, and supporting documentation in line with corporate governance frameworks and approval requirements.
  • Monitor deviations between planned and actual positions while passing the different stage gates and provide structured insights for the governance meetings.
  • Manage relationships with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders/partners, including provincial/federal/municipal governments, agencies and/or communities, leveraging those relationships to advance commercial operations program objectives.
  • Monitors commercial performance management through pro-active issue resolution, change requests/amendments, and standardized internal processes that contribute to achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement of commercial and contract management, contract administration and risk control.
  • Maintain governance, and management strategies to ensure that contracts adhere to Metrolinx policies and procedures and to minimize corporate liability and risk throughout the contract lifecycle.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Experience in progressively responsible roles related to the planning, design, construction and operation of rail and/or transit infrastructure and services, and related works including experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects and/or operational contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial management techniques and practices in a large multi project complex construction and infrastructure environment.
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience of commercial management and contract administration principles, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to plan, set priorities, schedule, and manage deliverables for immediate and future needs.
  • Highly developed written communication skills to develop briefs and presentations for executive management with a clear and succinct definition of the issues, identifying a priority ranking of issues and providing well-researched and concise answers to anticipated questions; to prepare strategy documents and issue reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, with strong mentoring, coaching, and team-building skills to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills to lead a team, prioritize and manage multiple deadlines effectively, and proficiency in project management tools to track audit progress and deliverables.
