Overview

We are looking for a Manager, Cloud Services to lead our IT Cloud infrastructure, operations, and the evolution of our cloud platform(s).

This is a strategic role tasked with building and maintaining a best-in-class IT Operations function that operates with a Cloud-first and DevOps mindset. The Manager Cloud Services must champion the journey to, and evolution of, the Cloud and DevOps as well as ensure operational stability of the province-wide 24x7 cloud platform and its support operation, which WorkSafeBC relies upon to conduct and maintain its business.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work under the direction of the Director IT, and will be responsible for defining IT Cloud Infrastructure strategy, direction, architecture, standards, and management to include disaster recovery, security, systems, servers, monitoring, performance, networks, and storage in accordance with best practices and WorkSafeBC policies and standards.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

  • Lead the IT Cloud infrastructure and operations organization (people, process, and technology) and determine the best course towards, and evolution of, our cloud platform(s)
  • Evangelize, implement, manage, and continually improve a robust Cloud Operations and DevOps function for cloud services
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in business planning, program development and operational activities
  • Implement and manage processes and controls that assure maximum uptime and quick service to the user community for Cloud workloads
  • Design, implement, deploy, and manage systems/applications monitoring processes and tools to proactively identify and resolve problems within the cloud platform
  • Establish service level agreements (SLAs), standardized processes and key operational metrics to effectively manage the performance of the Cloud Services team, including relationships with service providers

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for someone who can:
  • Work closely with Application Development Stream, Enterprise, Solution Architecture, and Common Engineering teams to provide effective services, and implement best practice enterprise standards and technology architecture
  • Create a supportive and healthy work environment, setting performance goals, providing feedback and coaching while promoting a customer service approach
  • Collect and monitor key KPIs reflective of cloud performance and support the adoption of Cloud FinOps
  • Support multiple deployment models including manual, scripted, and DevOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Configuration as Code (CaC) methodologies
Your background and experience
  • A degree in a related discipline
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a directly related management role, in a complex, service-based environment with significant reliability and uptime requirements
  • Certifications: Microsoft AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and at least one other Microsoft Azure certification related to Cloud Services provisioning and management
  • Cloud FinOps certification and at least one certification from the DevOps Institute is considered an asset.
