The Addiction and Mental Health (AMH) Team is looking for an energetic, strengths-based leader to oversee the Inpatient Psychiatry unit and Psychiatric Assessment Nursing (PAN) team located at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. The manager is a key leadership role and currently reports to the Director, Addiction and Mental Health, Facility-Based Services. This position is responsible for providing direction and leadership of these dynamic teams in a fast-paced, patient and family-centred environment with a heightened focus on trauma-informed practice, as well as patient and staff safety. Supporting the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health care for patients and their families by working collaboratively with physicians and others both within AHS and the community are essential. Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to collaboratively deliver services to those in need of mental health care and addictions support will be key to your success.
Description:
The manager will collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and lead the delivery of Addiction and Mental Health (AMH) services related to the Inpatient Psychiatry unit as well as the Psychiatric Assessment Nursing (PAN) team. Key responsibilities include: participate in strategic and operational planning.; actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of program plans; contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of overarching AHS clinical policies and procedures for the assigned program(s); foster innovation, integration and consistency of patient and family, focused, integrated care by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with other managers; ensure the effective deployment of human resources; support a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace; ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal resources; manage and report on the operating budget, including budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring in accordance with established AHS policies and practices within the area of accountability; utilize available tools and data to monitor patient outcomes, service data, bed utilization, etc., to inform operational decisions; foster a culture of continuous improvement within the assigned unit(s) and/or program(s); collaborate with other program and site managers in the zone to ensure the effective integration of applicable programs; use effective change management practices, manage initiatives to improve the overall clinical operations within the assigned program(s); ensure patient safety standards and protocols are fully embraced and carried out in all patient care delivery; triage and manage most patient/family concerns (first point of contact) and escalates issues accordingly; is the first point of contact for local physician requests, concerns, issues or other patient care needs.
