Your Opportunity:
As the Manager of Central Access - Health Link 811, Edmonton Site, you will lead a large and diverse team of administrative support staff that provide a variety of booking and allocation services to the public and other health care providers. You will be an integral part of the Health Link 811 management team that supports clinical and non-clinical staff providing frontline patient care and services to Albertans.
Description:
The Central Access Manager, Health Link 811 reports directly to the Site Manager and is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation, performance management, program planning, internal and external reporting of Central Access and Registration teams who provide direct service to Albertans. This position is responsible and accountable for making unit-level decisions, day-to-day operational management, planning and evaluation of services of a large and diverse registration team that books for over 20 different programs across the Edmonton Zone, routine childhood immunizations, and a variety of active living classes. This position plays a key role in communicating with appropriate internal and external contacts to develop and build programs that support Albertans and other AHS services. This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing expertise of the teams through direct staff development, ensuring that competencies and organizational standards/practices are achieved and maintained. This position has a key leadership role in identifying priorities and direction for the business units and maintaining a high level of service quality within Health Link.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of current experience in a leadership role. A minimum of post-secondary baccalaureate degree. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, program planning and evaluation skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services for Albertans. Experience in collaborating with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders. An equivalent combination of directly related experience and education may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong leadership skills, including effective communication skills, demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching experience, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation among and build solid relationships with partners. Working knowledge of Meditech and strong computer literacy skills. Strong critical thinking skills. Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Public Health or community experience supervising or managing an administrative support team and/or a customer service team. Experience with Project Management. Experience in managing a unionized environment. Expertise with electronic health information systems & financial/human resources applications (i.e. e-People, Oracle/e-Manager, Meditech, Connect Care).
