Coordinators, Student Assistants, Project/Research Interns, and occasional contract staff

Position Summary



The Manager, Capstone Projects and Applied Research plays a leadership role in advancing IBU's mission of combining academic excellence with practical, industry-relevant learning experiences. Reporting to the Director, Industry Engagement and Applied Research, this position is responsible for designing, overseeing, and continuously improving capstone project delivery, applied research initiatives, industry engagement strategies, and facilitating partnerships between students, faculty, and industry.

The Manager ensures the effective integration of applied research and experiential learning into the student journey, fosters sustainable relationships with industry partners, supports faculty involvement, and ensures compliance with policies and research ethics standards. This role is instrumental in shaping IBU's reputation for applied learning and industry-aligned research, balancing operational oversight with strategic development.

Qualifications & Application Process



Qualifications:



Master's degree in business, education, social sciences, or a related field (PhD preferred, or equivalent experience). Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in academic operations, applied research management, or experiential learning leadership. Demonstrated success in developing and managing student-centered, industry-partnered projects or research initiatives. Strong knowledge of applied research practices, ethics frameworks, and academic records management. Experience cultivating and sustaining industry partnerships in a higher education context. Proven leadership skills with experience supervising staff or project teams. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and operational demands. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills for engaging diverse academic and industry audiences. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, project management platforms, and online collaboration tools. Experience in a private university or innovative educational environment is considered an asset.
