Overview

We are looking for a Manager, Board Governance to leverage effective governance and efficient administration to fulfill the mandate of WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s Board of Directors (BOD).

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll manage systems and processes to support corporate governance and the operations of the Office of the Board of Directors to ensure effective delivery of services to the BOD and WorkSafeBC. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also ensure administrative support is provided to the Office of the Fair Practices Commissioner (OFPC). This role will balance urgency and tact to support the Director, BOD Governance and Enterprise Strategic Initiatives with governance support for BOD activities, while fostering clear and timely communication between the BOD and WorkSafeBC.

Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

  • Support corporate governance and the operations of the Office of the Board of Directors to ensure effective delivery of services to the BOD and WorkSafeBC including orientation of new BOD members, communication, committee work, outreach, education, accountability, and technical support
  • Ensure the effective delivery of corporate governance support services by developing and implementing departmental business plans to support and achieve the BOD\xe2\x80\x99s mandate, as well as supporting the administrative needs of the OFPC
  • Act as a liaison between WorkSafeBC pension management, the Pension Committee, and the BOD, regarding governance reporting, and bringing forward regulatory and other plan amendments to the BOD for their approval
  • Ensure that WorkSafeBC and divisional policies, procedures and standards are appropriately implemented within assigned area and provides advice, guidance, and direction to assigned staff and others on policies, business plans and operational matters relating to corporate governance and OFPC activities and matters
  • Participate as a member of the Office of the Board in business planning activities and provides input into policy development and planning, implementing changes and initiatives as required
  • Research information and prepare detailed written reports and documentation for administrative and operational purposes

Your background and experience
  • A degree in public or business administration, law, economics, commerce or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience within public sector adminsitration, legal, or governance
