Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Services, the Manager of Bio-Medical Engineering is responsible for the Management of a comprehensive and centralized Bio-Medical Services department delivering high quality service of repairs, maintenance and testing while ensuring the safety, adherence to all current Legislation, Original manufacturer\xe2\x80\x99s specifications, standards are in place and followed appropriately and in a cost effective manner. In addition the manager will be responsible for implementing the priorities and indicators for the Departmental Strategic Plan.

Education

  • Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • Preferable ITIL Foundation certification
  • Preferably a Certified Engineering Technologist from OACETT
Experience

  • A minimum of 5 \xe2\x80\x93 10 years recent experience in the management of staff that repair and maintain clinical equipment with a thorough knowledge of technologically advanced medical equipment in a health care setting
  • Demonstrated leadership Skills
  • Good Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control practices in Health Care institutions
  • Knowledge of all relevant legislative codes and regulations pertaining to the operation and functionality of a health care facility
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of Real Time Locating system (RTLS)
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, Occupational Health and Safety act and WHMIS standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational/prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support effective team building and functioning
  • Knowledge of smart hospital bed and stretcher maintenance and repairs in house and liaison with third party vendors
  • Participate in the accreditation processand work to ensure that the program and MGH achieve, maintain and continually improve upon their accredited status
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast, plan and monitoroperating and capital equipment budget
  • Develops, monitors and implements a preventative maintenance program for medical devices equipment and medical technology
  • Manage Bio-medical assets inventory and life cycle analysis
  • Maintain the tagging process and troubleshooting with Information Technology department and OEM as required
  • Experience negotiating contracts, agreements and partnerships based on financial and operational needs
  • Perform other duties as required
