About the position




The Manager, Before and After School Care Programs, is responsible for the effective operation and leadership of multiple school-age sites across YMCA BC, within Vancouver. This role ensures high-quality programming that supports the well-being, development, and safety of children in our care.


Key responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, mentoring, and supporting program staff, and ensuring compliance with licensing and YMCA quality standards. The Manager plays a critical role in building strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners, while fostering inclusive, engaging environments for children.


Aligned with YMCA BC's Strategic Plan, priorities for this role include supporting program growth and expansion, staff development and retention, and strengthening connections with key stakeholders in the school-age care sector.

Major Responsibilities

:

Provide operational leadership and day-to-day oversight of multiple licensed before and after school care programs, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with child care licensing regulation, National YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum delivery, and alignment with YMCA BC's values and strategic priorities. Coach, develop, and support 3 to 4 direct reports and approximately 72 front-line staff to deliver high-quality programs that meet Provincial Licensing Regulation and YMCA standards.
Actively contribute to a cohesive management team, working collaboratively to advance the mission of YMCA BC. Demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving Branch and Association goals related to annual operating plans, budgets, fundraising, YMCA initiatives, and special projects, ensuring programs operate at full capacity.

:

Minimum of 5 years' experience leading teams of staff or volunteers. University degree in a related field preferred Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Valid First Aid Certificate required. Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
