: Manager, Airside Operations



Reporting to the Vice President, Operational Excellence, the Manager, Airside Operations has responsibility for the functional airfield operations, including inspections, audits, maintenance and core systems reliability for the airfield and groundside infrastructure, as well as environment, wildlife, zoning management, and staff responsibilities related to emergency incidents. The Manager, Airside Operations is the administrator for the firehall emergency response service contract, and provides key input to airport planning, research and technical support, capital projects and delivery, safety and security of the airport, and regulatory compliance of the Corporation.

As a member of the SAA Management Team, the Manager, Airside Operations will work closely with all members of the Executive Team in execution of the SAA Business Plan.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:



Direct Airside Operations (Airfield, Zoning, Environment) through a focus on quality service and operational integrity which includes contract obligations and oversight for emergency response service provision.

Manage and develop systems and procedures which ensure optimal serviceability, operational readiness and life cycle asset management of facilities, equipment and infrastructure.

Support the development of capital, operations and maintenance budgets through formal business cases, for both annual and long-term financial projections, as well as the annual business plan.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulations (TP312) which affect the airport. Review changes to regulations (through an industry network) and provide feedback to regulatory agencies and SAA senior management to ensure fully compliant airport infrastructure.

Provide input and direction into the policies, procedures and guidelines affecting all airport facilities to ensure minimal interruption to normal airport operations and strong aviation service support.

Accountable for the final review and oversight of emergency and irregular operations of the department in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Ensures the interests of the stakeholders within the airport and its surrounding communities are considered in functional airfield operations and planning.

Develop and improve upon procedures, strategies and initiatives that support our mandate, mission, vision and guiding principles.

Team Leadership and Development



Lead airside, groundside and maintenance teams including fleet management, environmental management, winter operations and emergency response team members.

Promote a respectful and inclusive workplace as the foundation of a strong cohesive team that thrives on collaboration, innovation and shared success.

Set clear performance expectations, objectives and timelines for direct reports and the team.

Responsible for the selection, onboarding, development, coaching and training plans of new and promoted talent into the team.

Accountable for leading respectful, transparent discussions in alignment with organizational policies and a healthy workplace culture.

Lead by example in addressing behavior not conducive to a healthy workplace culture, investigating incidents and managing corrective actions and steps forward.

Develop effective working relationships with staff at all levels, regulatory agencies, clients, aviation and community stakeholders.

Develop a strong network of industry contacts and sources to implement best airport practices.

As required, participate as a management representative for Board committee meetings to report on initiatives and performance of the department.

Education and Work Experience:



Post-secondary graduate of business management, airport management, engineering or related education program an equivalent combination of education and significant relevant work experience will be considered.

Minimum of 5 years' experience leading a team through critical operational objectives. Leading in a unionized environment is a highly valued asset.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations within a highly regulated industry. It is a highly valued asset to understand regulations pertaining to airport and aviation.

Additional Requirements



A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License

Exceptional communication (oral & written), organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex priorities, influence diverse stakeholders, and lead service-focused outcomes in a highly customer-centric environment

Ability to build and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with SAA management and employees, airport community, partners and stakeholders

Knowledge of airport facility maintenance and operations, with experience in airport security and emergency planning

Ability to proactively identify innovative improvements to airport processes and systems

Strong awareness and commitment to a healthy and safe workplace environment

Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, databases and other software

Knowledge of Airport policies, procedures, security and safety plans

Must be in possession of, or obtain within a specified period: 1) Valid Transportation Security Clearance, 2) Airside Vehicle Operators Permit, 3) Industry Canada Radio 'D' License

Pay: $110,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
