The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Security & Public Safety, the Manager, Airport Security is responsible to maintain and lead the security programs for WAA. The incumbent is responsible for the management, oversight, and guidance of the employees in this unit, and for supporting the business unit priorities in alignment with the strategic direction of the company.



Responsibilities include:



Lead and oversee security and policing programs, making impactful decisions to drive WAA's business. Manage day-to-day security operations, coordinating resources effectively. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, understanding airport issues. Represent WAA at industry events, elevating our presence and partnerships. Provide expert guidance to staff, ensuring efficient airport security practices. Chair the WAA Safety and Security Committee, driving safety initiatives. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to maintain airport security. Develop and enforce security policies, compliance, and contingency plans. Conduct security investigations and implement corrective measures when needed. Create and integrate strategic security plans and technical solutions. Direct security projects and assess requirements for capital projects. Contribute to WAA's strategic planning and business processes. Manage departmental budget and financial aspects of the role. Mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing team.

Selection Criteria include:



Relevant university degree or college diploma, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of senior security or regulatory compliance management experience. Minimum 3 years of people management or leadership. Proven track record in training development and delivery within security or regulated environments. Budget management and administration experience. Strong understanding of aeronautical legislation, including Aeronautics Act and Canadian Aviation Regulations. Experience in developing and implementing security or regulatory programs, preferably in an airport context. Sound judgment and initiative in high-pressure and emergency situations. Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and maintain meticulous attention to detail. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborating across functions to achieve outcomes. Ability to motivate and lead teams in time-sensitive environments. Resourceful and skilled in managing multiple initiatives with strong prioritization. Flexibility and openness to new responsibilities. Willingness to embrace new challenges and initiatives. Experience with security assets, including access control and monitoring systems is considered an asset.
