Business Title: Acting Manager, Access Network Expansion Design

Rogers is investing in our service expansion plans and will be growing our Network team to support a number of initiatives to extend our network reach to more costumers and businesses nationally. This position, reporting to the Director of Cable Access & Transport Engineering, will manage a technical team dedicated to delivering against Service Expansion Plans for rural and underserved communities as well as out of footprint greenfield projects. What you will do:

  • Manage the modelling & analysis of access network expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment to established policies, engineering & construction standards & specifications and ensure waiver approvals as required.
  • Ensure advances in modeling and planning tools leveraged.
  • Ensure existing network assets, new technology & construction methods leveraged.
  • Ensure quality and timely completion of feasibility and costing assessments of service expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment with regions for local factors & regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Manager, Regions and cross functional Service Expansion teams to deliver on the company's Service Expansion objectives.
  • Work closely with the Delivery Manager to highlight and mitigate risks
  • Support true up analysis of assessment feasibility and costing with actual build costs to ensure CPU models align with field experience
  • Final sign off on most cost-effective deployment for network expansions.
  • Manage all preliminary Engineering input for complex bid submissions and expansion projects.
  • Support completion of cross functional
as required * Manage budget preparation for UFP and FAUG programs
  • Support preparation of budgets, bids, and contracts.
  • Ensure completion of Engineering planning & design specifications for successful bid awards.
  • Manage engineering support for implementation of successful projects with internal implementation teams and external vendors as required
  • Lead interlock meetings with project stakeholders for review/kick-off approved assessments
Qualifications:
  • Highly effective leader & strong communicator with the ability to frame technology issues in business terms and effectively manage conflicts & issues.
  • Highly adaptive and flexible to changing environments and priorities. Ability to manage a team to deliver on objectives.
  • Strong understanding of designing & building PON/HFC & Wireless Access Networks and systems including experience with roles and functions of all access network elements. Well versed on industry &
standards, OPE, construction methods, vendor roadmaps for next generation networks & implementation methods * Education experience should include a post-secondary education, Bachelor of Engineering or Engineering Technologist preferably.
