As Manager, Canada FP&A and trusted advisor to the business, you will have an opportunity to use your strong background in reporting and analysis, and knowledge of the Canadian business, to support the strategic management in all Canadian Segment consolidated internal and external reporting and segment business initiatives.

The position directly supports the AVP, Reporting, Planning and Analysis and indirectly the Canadian Segment Leadership Team, the Canadian Finance Leadership Team, including the Segment CFO, BU CFOs, strategy and investor relations business partners. This role is the central point of contact for the Canadian Segment with consolidated internal and external reporting, strategy, and analysis. This role will closely work with the BU reporting managers/senior analysts to form a reliable team that acts as the trusted advisor for all constituents across the Canadian Segment by providing valuable insights and analysis on Canada segment internal financial reporting.

The role is also accountable for delivering accurate and comprehensive financial data and reports for Canada segment, maintaining strong accounting systems, as well as building and maintaining a strong internal control environment to support risk management.

The position will be part of a team of 5 professionals across multiple sites/geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

External Reporting: Manage the delivery of Canada segment quarterly external materials. Provide segment\'s CFO and CEO with high-quality reporting and analysis to support quarterly MD&A, press release, analyst presentations and analyst call materials. Work closely with the Investor Relations team on our external messaging for key financial performance and business indicators, including preparing Q&A materials for senior management with a meticulous analysis of key messages for the most challenging Q&A items that are likely to be asked at the quarterly analyst call, supporting Investor Relations requests and initiatives, such as Manulife Investor Day presentations, and other industry presentations as well any financial-related rating agency requests.

Internal Reporting: Work closely with the FSSC team and support the BU reporting managers/senior analysts in preparing monthly and quarterly reports to BU partners as well as overseeing the completion and communication of additional analysis. Manage the delivery of the segment\'s quarterly internal reporting: Sales, NBV, MIS, market share reporting and other related management requests. Manage financial KPIs for business unit and total segment pages as part of the segment\'s Enterprise KPI reporting. This includes annual review of KPIs, consistency with the segment\'s strategic priorities, coordination with the businesses as well as other key segment and corporate team members. In addition, manage the implementation and reporting of other KPI-related projects. Identify improvements required in financial reporting to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Advisory: Work closely with our business partners to provide financial input for the delivery of Canada Segment pivotal initiatives, such as the annual board of directors\xe2\x80\x99 updates, annual management scorecards and other critical initiatives requiring segment financial inputs. Work closely with our Canada Strategy team and Corporate Investor Relations to deliver peer benchmarking analysis.

Controls: Lead the coordination and preparation of annual audit walk through. Develop and implement controls for our quarterly reporting to ensure integrity of the reported information, responsible for quarterly controls and managing quarterly segment submissions to EY and annual EY walk throughs.

Leadership and Development: Provide strong, proactive leadership and coaching to two indirect reports. What we are looking for

Strong intuition for business with ability to communicate complex financial concepts, analysis and results in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner including the ability to interact with senior leaders and representatives from BUs and functions

A comprehensive knowledge of reporting requirements, sound business practices and controls, and accounting principles which apply to financial companies and expense management.

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to influence others in aligning to a new vision; motivate others to accept progress and change

Strong accounting and expense systems knowledge (e.g. Essbase)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a demanding and result-oriented environment

CPA designation preferred with 5+ years of related experience

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location CAN, Ontario, Toronto, 200 Bloor Street East

Salary range is expected to be between $82,500.00 CAD - $148,500.00 CAD
