Position Details: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Starting salary at $96,200, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with each individual\'s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Hybrid/Remote within Canada

What You Will Do

Reporting to the National Director Science, Education, and Business Planning, the role of the Major Project Manager (MPM) is to support the planning, execution, implementation and reporting for major projects. This includes defining the project objectives and resources needed (time and expense) to implement the project.

You will coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors and consultants to deliver the project outcomes, as well as continually assessing project risk and implement risk mitigation measures, while ensuring the quality of the work throughout the project\xe2\x80\x99s life cycle.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development and administration of a project management framework for major projects. This includes developing portfolio management and project management practices and tools.
  • Coordinate development of tender packages, screening of tenders and selection of successful bid.
  • Coordinate external project contractors and consultant work plans, activities, costs, and additional work orders.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and schedule and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Establish project success criteria and key performance indicators (KPIs). Determine processes to identify, escalate, manage, and mitigate issues and challenges.
  • Support project teams in the development of major projects including planning and identifying project scope, goals, deliverables, budget and resources.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field. Must have Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent as well.
  • Experience in the development of tenders, both from the development and response perspective.
  • Knowledge of full project lifecycle including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing.
  • Experience with project management software, such as Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
  • Strong familiarity with construction projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel/management.
