Essentially, we help the faculties and departments to run smoothly by ensuring they have the resources they need while staying within financial and ethical guidelines.About the RoleWe are expanding the number of procurement officer positions embedded with Facilities Services to support the growing number of capital construction projects at SFU. The incumbent will support Facilities' Major Projects group and will lead procurement processes for projects valued up to $500M. Working in partnership with the capital project managers, the procurement officer will conduct sourcing and competitive bidding activities using established tendering and RFx models while ensuring fair, open and transparent contract award processes. The incumbent will have dual reporting responsibilities: a direct-line to the Manager of Procurement Services and a very close dotted-line to the Director of Campus Planning and Development.QualificationsThe candidate must have professional supply chain management certification. We are seeking candidates with similar experience in the public post-secondary sector. A certificate in public procurement law and practice is desirable. A university business degree is an asset. The candidate must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal and have good math skills (e.g., arithmetic, data analysis). The candidate must have good analytical skills, be well organized and able to manage to deadlines.
