Contribute and help in the ski /outdoor external operations of Tawatinaw Valley.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintenance of equipment and property for the Tawatinaw Valley Ski Club.
Complete Lift 151 as required by AEDARSA and complete Fall Arrest training/certification, as well any required safety training. Tawatinaw Valley will provide time and funding for the completion of these courses.
Ensure daily inspection checklists are recorded in Edge Auditor Reporting App.
The reports include, but are not limited to:
Equipment maintenance records
AEDARSA inspections and checklists
Fuel logs
Lift operations checklists
Snowmaking logs, etc.
Preparation of records and reports requires use of Tawatinaw Valley laptop computer. Reports will be audited monthly.
Complete snowmaking start up and operations to include, but not limited to:
Cut hill face and lower ground grasses and perform landscape repairs as necessary.
Generator setup
Water pump inspections
Electrician sublet labor
Snow gun maintenance
Start-up and shut down according to ideal temperatures for snowmaking
Ground assessment of terrain.
Complete lift maintenance and operations to include, but not limited to:
To have T-bars ready for opening day, estimated 1st of December.
Perform spring takedown and maintenance to include, Carpet, lifts and equipment.
Lift maintenance and wire rope log records include, but are not limited to:
Inspect, repair and hang T-boxes at end of day
Mark grip locations before removal of T's
Perform wire rope visual inspection, complete all measurements as per wire rope log - as per manufacture.
Lubricate haul ropes as per manufacture
Grease and inspect sheave assemblies. Change sheave locations in assembly to prolong life as required. Create program of long-term replacement of depreciated components on a yearly program.
Move counter weights, so that cables are riding in a new location (t-bars)
Remove, clean, inspect and grease T grips
Release tension, open up and oil springs of T's. Rebuild with new springs as required.
Change lift motor oil
Inspect ignition parts
Sand and paint drive tower and towers as required
Perform lift building maintenance as required
Change oil in gearbox
Complete all service/maintenance required as indicated by manufacturer and governance body bulletins and communication.
Complete and record daily maintenance, including but not limited to:
Generator
ATV
Snowmobile
Snow guns
Water Pump house
T-bar engines
Snowcat
Inspect suspension, torque tracks as required
Pressure test hydraulics
Inspect frame for cracks
Inspect all wheels for delaminating.
Inspect and re pack all wheel bearings
Take part in terrain park maintenance.
Take part in all other outside operations and maintenance, including but not limited to:
Parking lot clearing
Parking lot inspection and maintenance
Deck/walkway clearing and maintenance
Maintain signage on trails, lift shacks, parking lot, decks, etc. as required.
Maintain fencing as required
Trail, run and lift line maintenance. Cut branches/brush/trees back from edges
Deal with spring run off / flooding as required
Complete renovations / repairs as per Executive and Facility Supervisor
Operate within all municipal bylaws and with consideration to the adjacent residents, keeping a peaceful coexistence.
Perform snow depth checks as required to help with the snow making crew locate areas of low snow before the condition becomes critical. This also aids the operator to notice what areas are skied or groomed off and will allow a change in the grooming pattern to keep these areas adequately covered with snow.
Monitor diesel fuel consumption and coordinate with the Facility Supervisor to ensure replacement fuel is ordered with adequate notice to prevent running out of fuel.
Provide coverage for the below areas:
Lift operations, rotations and breaks
Ski School evaluation
Maintain a constant flow of guests while operating your assigned lift safely & efficiently to provide guests and staff with courteous and friendly service. Maintain eye contact, answer questions and give physical assistance with loading when needed.
Handle all inquiries & complaints in a professional & competent manner applying a win-win attitude. Keep Facility Supervisor informed of guest related problems.
Adhere to all operational and safety procedures - perform daily lift start checks and complete daily lift log and incident reports. Keep accurate paperwork and checklists.
Perform daily housekeeping duties for the lift huts, establish & maintain ramps, maze area, tools & signs to maintain cleanliness, tidiness and a professional image to our guests.
Inform leadership team of any unsafe conditions, unusual occurrences or irregularities that occur during daily operation. Ensure the quality of the facility and services conform to the goals and mission of Tawatinaw Valley.
Build and nurture a team environment by maintaining and promoting staff morale through positive attitudes and social aspects of the Tawatinaw Valley working environment.
Enhance awareness and promote Tawatinaw Valley's as a good corporate citizen and a valuable member of the community.
Keep Tawatinaw Valley current with the advances in the snow sports industry and attend meetings where other industry colleagues will be present for the sharing of ideas and information, as requested by the board and/or Facility Supervisor.
Ensure that Tawatinaw Valley's Health and Safety Program is operating successfully. Act as a liaison for Workplace Health & Safety issues.
Perform other responsibilities when required as directed by the Board of Directors, Facility Supervisor or Operations Lead.
We are a team at Tawatinaw Valley and as a member of that team, you may be asked to assist other departments such as rental shop duties or help in ski school or you may draw upon help from other staff members to help you achieve your goals. Additional tasks may include general and/or enhanced cleaning procedures. Through this type of environment, we ensure Tawatinaw Valley is collaborative and operated efficiently.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The length of a working day may vary depending on how busy the area is or deadlines that need to be met for a particular project.
Position is a combination of physical and non-physical with intermittent periods of sitting or standing with an office base. Must be prepared and physically able to provide relief at times to external positions: lift operator, snowmaking.
Some traveling is required to maintain and build rapport with key contacts.
Hours of work are during the weekdays, weekends and holidays, with occasional weeknights.
May lift, carry, push or pull items weighing up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a university or college program in ski resort operations, millwright or in a discipline related to facility operation and maintenance OR an equivalent of technical training and experience in facility operations OR comparable life experience. Mechanical aptitude and experience in large equipment operation is required. Experience in ski area management is desirable. Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a variety of people. The ability to work in a fast paced consumer driven environment and make responsible decisions quickly, as is the ability to organize goals and manage projects. Effective communication and organizational skills to handle the administrative functions of the position.
After a three-month probationary term, the employee may be offered a Millwright apprenticeship program (current compiled hours will go towards the program).
Admission to the Millwright apprenticeship program is subject to the discretion of TVSC leadership and executive.
HEALTH & SAFETY HAZARDS
This position is physical, requiring work outside on the ski hill. Identified health and safety hazards associated with this position include: strain from lifting, cuts, slipping, tripping and exposure to changes in temperature.
This position involves working closely with the public. Identified health and safety hazards include: exposure to bacteria and viruses, abuse/harassment and stress.
