The Wetaskiwin School Division requires a full time Maintenance Worker to work out of the School Division's Maintenance Facility situated in the City of Wetaskiwin.
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the repair, maintenance, servicing, and general upkeep of Division facilities, fixtures, and equipment. This includes painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and other general maintenance duties to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment for students and staff. The Maintenance Worker is also responsible for completing work orders, responding to emergency maintenance requests, and operating and maintaining tools and equipment safely and effectively. Basic knowledge of carpentry and plumbing is an asset. The Maintenance Worker works collaboratively within the Plant Facilities team to ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established priorities. This position will in the rotating on call schedule, also there may be overtime work from time to time.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Completes work orders and damage reports as assigned
Constructs, alters, installs and repairs buildings, furnishings, equipment and other structures
Performs a variety of basic carpentry and plumbing duties
Grounds maintenance
Inspection and maintenance of playground equipment as required
Participate in the Professional Development activities
Knowledge and experience using emerging technologies using Google
Support and promote a safe working environment including policies and Health and Safety Training as prescribed by the Board.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Grade 12/GED
5 years of current relevant experience demonstrating a basic working knowledge of all trades
Experience using hand tools
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License
Written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, prioritizing and problem solving abilities
Proven ability to work effectively with fellow employees as well as independently with little to no supervision
Ability to exercise independent judgment to interpret, analyze and modify detailed methods
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, using a computer work order system
