Purpose of the Role
The Maintenance Worker supports the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of Payukotayno buildings, equipment, and surrounding properties. This role is responsible for routine facility inspections, minor repairs, and service coordination that promote safe and accessible working and service environments.

Core Responsibilities
1. Facility Maintenance and Repair
Conduct routine inspections of building interiors, exteriors, and equipment for wear, damage, or hazards
Perform basic repairs such as door adjustments, fixture replacement, light bulb changes, and minor plumbing fixes
Coordinate snow removal, salt application, garbage disposal, and grounds maintenance as seasonally required
2. Safety and Accessibility Support
Maintain clear walkways, emergency exits, and safe use of tools and equipment
Address identified safety hazards in a timely and responsible manner
Report concerns beyond scope to the Facilities Supervisor for specialized contractor referral
3. Operational and Logistical Duties
Transport and set up furniture, supplies, or materials for agency events or office relocations
Assist with receiving, moving, and storing deliveries, surplus items, or donations
Keep maintenance tools and storage areas organized and in good condition
4. Recordkeeping and Team Participation
Complete daily maintenance logs, supply checklists, and incident reports
Participate in staff debriefs, seasonal readiness meetings, and agency-wide events
Collaborate with Admin Support and Programs staff to ensure culturally safe and functional spaces
Required Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in building maintenance, custodial work, or repair services
Knowledge of safety protocols, basic carpentry, and general repairs
Ability to lift and carry heavy items and operate basic tools and machinery
Equivalency will be considered. Knowledge of First Nations service environments and respect for culturally sensitive spaces is an asset.
