What You'll Do:
As our Maintenance Worker you'll be an integral part of our team, responsible for:
General Maintenance:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of all company properties.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff ensuring a safe and functional environment.
Conduct minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furniture, doors and fixtures.
Patch walls, paint, replace flooring and repair minor structural issues as needed.
Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds, fences and landscaping.
Assist with small-scale construction or renovation projects.
Assemble or install furniture, cabinets, playground equipment and other facility-related structures.
Support emergency response efforts when urgent repairs are required.
Assist with setting up or breaking down rooms for school events or activities.
Occasionally relocate furniture and equipment between rooms or facilities as needed
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all facilities meet safety standards, including fire, health, and accessibility regulations.
Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment safely.
Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification is an asset.
Minimum 2 years experience providing preventative and corrective maintenance repairs.
Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
Basic knowledge of maintenance, repairs, and light construction (e.g., painting, minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
Experience with furniture or equipment moving and general facility upkeep.
Understanding of safety protocols and proper use of cleaning and maintenance materials.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable being active and on the move throughout the day.
Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail when performing repairs or installations.
Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues.
Reliability and strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Good communication skills for reporting issues or coordinating with staff.
