Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Maintenance Training Manager will play a key role in maintaining and managing Wasaya Airways' Aircraft Maintenance training programs and ensuring compliance thereof with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and other regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage all Aircraft Maintenance training programs and activities including course creation and facilitation
Plan out all in person training many well in advance
Carry out in person training as required for all maintenance staff, some travel required
Booking own travel and accommodations for training
Maintaining training department budgets and reporting them to the Director and Finance.
Onboard and train all new Aircraft Maintenance employees
Monitor applicable regulatory authorities for Notice of Proposed Amendments (NPA's) to anticipate, communicate, and prepare and implement changes to training and/or compliance standards, programs, and tools
Collaborate with Maintenance Management and Training Teams and other stakeholders to identify and propose changes to training tools and programs to ensure compliance of the CARs and training best practices
Optimize training resources and activities to ensure the most efficient use of facilities, instructors, contracts, tools, and trainees
Manage the procurement, contracting, and implementation of 3rd party training providers
Ensuring all Maintenance courses are up to date and compliant
Update and develop training standards and procedural documents as required
Coordinate with other company departments training personnel to ensure continuity in company training programs and optimize training resources
Liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance of Wasaya training practices with regards to foreign regulations, standards, procedures, and certification requirements for international operations
Liaise with Quality & Safety Team regarding training issues that are identified through SMS
Develop and facilitate elementary work and servicing training programs
Ensure accurate documenting and retention of training records and certification documents
Ensuring that no staff are going overdue on their Offline, Online or Documentation requirements
Responsible for monitoring and analyzing monthly expenditures for the Maintenance training function and explaining all variances from budget
Assist with monitoring department manpower to ensure within budget and seek approval for replacement/increase
Adhere to all financial internal controls
Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis and efficiencies within the department budget
Assist the with annual departmental training budget
Promote occupational health and safety within your department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department.
Embark on employment equity initiatives; engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary

Qualifications
3-5 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience an asset
5 years of training and development experience an asset
Proficiency in using MS Office Suite
Proficiency with Aircraft Manuals
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Proven sound judgement and decision-making skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance qualification
Ojibwe language considered an asset
