Position Summary

As a Maintenance Technician at Ice River Sustainable Solutions, you'll be part of a high-performance maintenance team responsible for keeping critical production systems mission-ready at all times. Drawing on your mechanical and electrical expertise, you'll inspect, repair, and maintain industrial equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation across the plant.

This role suits individuals with a strong technical background -- especially those who've worked in structured, high-accountability environments such as the Canadian Armed Forces. You'll rely on your hands-on skills, situational awareness, and teamwork to troubleshoot complex systems and keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:



Conduct Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair production machinery, utilities, and support systems to maintain operational readiness. Troubleshoot and Repair Systems: Diagnose issues with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, multimeters, and test equipment. Perform Equipment Overhauls: Participate in rebuilds and retrofits; repair or replace worn or defective parts. Install and Commission Equipment: Support setup, alignment, and testing of new machinery and automated systems. Read and Interpret Technical Drawings: Use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to guide troubleshooting and repairs. Ensure Safety and Compliance: Follow lockout/tagout and confined-space procedures; uphold all health and safety standards. Collaborate and Communicate: Work with production teams, contractors, and engineers to resolve breakdowns quickly and prevent reoccurrence. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and line performance; support process improvement initiatives. Mentorship and Training: Share technical knowledge and assist in developing junior technicians and operators.


Required Qualifications and Skills:



Licensed Industrial Electrician (442A), Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A), or Industrial Mechanic/Millwright (433A) preferred -- or

equivalent military trade experience (e.g., Electrical Distribution Technician, Vehicle Technician, Marine Engineering Technician, Electrical Technician.)

3-5 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including understanding of PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, and motors. Able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Experience with preventive maintenance software and tools. Knowledge of industrial safety standards, lockout/tagout, and confined-space procedures. Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and teamwork mindset. Physically capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting as required.
