Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary:

Responsible for conducting daily inspections, performing maintenance, and making necessary repairs throughout the hotel to maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-kept environment for guests and staff. This role requires a basic understanding of repair work, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance, as well as servicing other equipment used by guests and staff that may impact their overall experience.

The Maintenance Technician will work closely with housekeeping department and will also support preventive maintenance efforts and promptly address maintenance requests from guests or staff. Guest satisfaction will be measured through feedback and regular inspections conducted with the General Manager.

Job Duties:



Creates a safe and attractive environment for guests and associates by ensuring the hotel is maintained in accordance with safety standards. Responsible for the overall guest satisfaction and working amenities of the guest rooms, public areas, and hotel exterior. Public Areas include the breakfast room, lobby, elevators, meeting rooms, hallways/stairways, fitness area, business center, and pool/hot tub. Completes hotel room and building repairs such as replacing filters, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and painting. Performs repairs on toilets, sinks, laundry facilities, kitchen and other hotel property. Develops plans for completing routine and preventative maintenance; coordinates work with hotel department managers. Coordinate and conduct a deep cleaning program with the Housekeeping Manager including carpet cleaning, tub and tile grout cleanings, snaking and maintaining plumbing fixtures. Responsible for safety and cleanliness of the hotel exterior including landscaping, garbage clean-up, grass cutting, snow shoveling and parking lot sanding. Responsible for safety and cleanliness of the pool and hot tub including chemical reading and balancing. Responsible for pool and hot tub maintenance including working with AHS and our preferred service provider. Must be punctual and able to work a variety of days Responsible for contacting contractors if needed. Responsible for tracking maintenance inventory. Ensures hotel adheres to all regulatory and safety standards by meeting with government and insurance inspectors and taking corrective action as needed. Work with contractors to ensure jobs are quoted for and scheduled in a timely manner Keeps all mechanical, electrical, and structural blueprints up to date. Keep maintenance logs and document completed repairs. Assist with fire alarm and emergency equipment checks. Report any major maintenance issues that require external vendors or contractors. Help identify ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce waste. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



High school diploma or equivalent. Any trade certifications (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) are a plus. Previous hotel or apartment experience preferred Pool Operators and HVAC certification preferred. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing maintenance. Experience with general maintenance tools. Troubleshooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, and carpentry. Strong organizational and time management skills are required Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools safely. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and G-Suite an asset Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, and reach upward. Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. May be exposed to varying temperatures and outdoor conditions when necessary. Must be eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist with obtaining work authorization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
