Maintenance Team Leader-Night Shift
Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for ensuring maximum operational potential is achieved. The Team Lead will manage the day to day operation of the maintenance department fostering a reliability-centered mindset for all systems necessary for a safe and efficient production facility. The Team Leader will perform various maintenance and repair work, including but not limited to: mechanical, electrical and other skill trades required to support the achievement of the facilities' goals while complying with safety standards.
Responsibilities:

  • Provides the resources (i.e. training, parts, and technical support) to ensure trades people can perform up to expectations and optimizing support and responsiveness to operational needs
  • Ensures work performed meets trade standards and is completed in an acceptable time
  • Co-ordinates repairs and works side by side with all departments for technical services
  • Works with managers and engineering department to resolve existing deficiencies and plans for future projects
  • Corrects performance deficiencies, communication, response time, reporting, ensures PM's are completed in the expected time frame
  • Works closely with team members to execute and continuously improve preventative maintenance initiative
  • Supervises contractor's quality of work.Follows company's key elements for contractors, etc.
  • Ensures all required reports are complete and updated (daily, weekly, monthly); reports include government inspector reports, AIB, GMP, Safety Audits
  • Communicates daily with all departments, as to their needs regarding performances/safety of lines
  • Supports team members to ensure timely repairs are completed professionally, safely and on time
  • Attends monthly health and safety meetings and all line meetings; reviews concerns and new businesses
  • Completes monthly safety/GMP Audits for maintenance areas: truck shop, boiler room, plants 1 & 2, machine shop, welding area, compressors, etc.
  • Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required
  • Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment
  • Ensures compliance with all product safety, legality and quality requirements
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures
  • Follows appropriate internal and external communication processes
  • Effectively coaches and develops department staff (as assigned) with respect to attendance, performance, health and safety and food safety
  • Coaches individual team members to perform to the maximum of their ability and to co-ordinate the progressive skill development and cross training of employees
  • Administers quarterly performance reviews and escalates issues to management as required
Qualifications:
  • Specialized training in a recognized Community College program (3-year Community College Program or equivalent) and/or Electrical/Millwright Journeyman's license. Strong preference for dual ticket. Must be licensed.
  • 5 years progressive experience in a Maintenance department of a food or pharmaceutical production environment
  • Previous supervisory experience in a Maintenance environment is an asset
  • Computer literacy is a must. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office is required; experience with CMMS is nice to have
  • Excellent ability to drive action
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
