We are currently seeking a

Maintenance Supervisor

to support daily site upkeep, seasonal maintenance, and team leadership to ensure our grounds, equipment, and facilities are safe, clean, and operating at their best.


About the Role



This is a physically active, hands-on leadership position for someone with strong practical skills in site and equipment maintenance, light machinery operation, and team supervision. You'll work outdoors in all seasons to support the day-to-day functionality of Squamish Canyon, ensuring everything from snow clearing to trail upkeep is handled efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities



Site & Equipment Maintenance



Operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment including snowblowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, trailers, UTVs, and small tractors. Lead seasonal site maintenance including snow removal, trail clearing, leaf blowing, minor landscaping, and debris management. Perform daily inspections of infrastructure, trails, bridges, and safety systems to ensure all areas are clean, functional, and hazard-free. Conduct minor repairs to structures, signage, railings, and public-use equipment. Ensure proper storage, usage, and maintenance logs for tools and machinery.

Operations & Risk Management



Collaborate with other departments to manage access, parking, traffic flow, and on-site logistics including roadways and public pathways. Support emergency response procedures and incident reporting; act as a first responder in case of on-site mechanical or safety issues. Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) safety and hygiene regulations. Help implement and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance routines and guest safety. Other duties as required.

Team Supervision & Support



Lead and mentor seasonal maintenance crew, providing training on tools, safety procedures, and daily duties. Assist Operations Manager with scheduling, performance feedback, and team development. Set the tone for a positive, safety-first team culture rooted in efficiency and accountability.

Guest Experience



Serve as an approachable and knowledgeable on-site presence for guests with facility or safety questions. Ensure guest-facing areas such as washrooms, walkways, and viewing platforms are clean, accessible, and well-maintained at all times.

What We're Looking For



2+ years

in trades, maintenance, facilities, parks, guiding, operations

Experience

working with trades and contractors. Comfortable working with and around

machinery and power tools

(e.g., chainsaws, snowblowers, landscaping equipment). Experience with

trailer driving, light equipment operation

, and performing minor repairs. Strong understanding of

outdoor site safety

, risk mitigation, and basic health and safety protocols. Capable leader with a strong work ethic and high attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving skills and a calm, can-do attitude in varied weather and work conditions.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License

required; trailer towing experience is a strong asset. Current certifications in

First Aid, WHMIS, Chainsaw Safety, S100

are strong assets.

Work Conditions



Work is primarily outdoors in

variable weather

and terrain. Physically active position requiring ability to lift up to

50 lbs

, use ladders, and perform repetitive tasks. Shifts include

weekends, holidays, and early mornings

during peak seasons. Uniforms and safety gear provided, must adhere to all safety protocols.
