POSITION SUMMARY



The

Maintenance Supervisor

oversees maintenance operations, ensuring production equipment and facility systems function efficiently and safely. This role involves managing maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including LOTO procedures. The Supervisor collaborates with the

Maintenance Manager

to optimize workflows and minimize downtime while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Safety & Compliance (Pre-Production Preparation & LOTO Procedures)



Ensure strict adherence to

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols

when performing maintenance. Oversee compliance with

health & safety regulations

to create a secure working environment. Perform scheduled

preventive maintenance

to minimize risks and ensure operational efficiency. Identify

faulty operations or defective materials

, reporting concerns to management promptly. Train maintenance staff on

LOTO procedures, safety protocols, and equipment handling

. Maintain

orderly, clean workspaces

, ensuring safety standards are consistently met.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting (Production & Operational Efficiency)



Manage installation,

repair, and maintenance

of production machines and facility systems. Provide

emergency repairs

and scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime. Read and interpret

equipment manuals and work orders

to perform necessary repairs. Diagnose

mechanical and electrical issues

, replacing or repairing parts as required. Supervise

preventive maintenance

on machines, equipment, and facilities. Utilize

hand and power tools, electric meters, and diagnostic equipment

effectively.

Workflow Optimization & Coordination (Post-Maintenance and Continuous Improvement)



Oversee

new construction, renovations, and system updates

, ensuring compliance with building maintenance requirements. Coordinate and monitor

contractor activities

for internal maintenance projects. Operate and manage

computerized maintenance systems (CMMS)

to track work orders efficiently. Set

priorities for preventive maintenance work orders, requisitions, and scheduled tasks

. Troubleshoot, install, and repair

electrical components, appliances, and industrial equipment

. Ensure all reports and maintenance records are completed accurately.

Leadership & Team Management



Supervise

maintenance staff

, ensuring tasks are completed effectively and within budget constraints. Provide guidance on

best practices for predictive and preventive maintenance

. Support automation initiatives and process improvements within maintenance operations. Monitor staff

performance, training needs, and adherence to procedures

. Assist in

short-term planning

to align maintenance strategies with company goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



Valid

Industrial Millwright or Electrician License

(Ontario). Minimum

5 years

of supervisory experience, preferably in the

food industry

. Strong

understanding of building operations and maintenance practices

. Knowledge of

local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations

.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



Technical education in mechanics or engineering

Multi-Craft Maintenance Skills

- Experience with

hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems

. Familiarity with

automated production lines, PLCs, and industrial robotics

.

Predictive & Preventative Maintenance Expertise

using

CMMS systems

like

MaintainX

to track maintenance workflows efficiently. Expertise in

Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and TPM

for process optimization.

mechanical and electrical systems

Skilled in operating and maintaining

PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Lifting & Carrying:

Prolonged standing and walking throughout the facility, including navigating production floors, workspaces, and storage areas. Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing

Manual Dexterity & Grip Strength:

Precise hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity required for operating tools, handling electrical components, and adjusting mechanical parts.
