The Position:
LutherCare has immediate opportunities in the Luther Special Care Home for Maintenance Service Worker. This position performs general maintenance and repairs for facility/plant systems, equipment, grounds and buildings. Full time position is 224 hours in 6 weeks. Included are health benefits, retirement plan, and vacation time. Team Members have opportunities for additional training and career advancement.
KEY ACTIVITIES
1. Maintenance:
Performs preventative maintenance.
Monitors and responds to computerized systems (e.g., drills, alarms, call system issues).
Conducts regular checks and maintenance on air-conditioning equipment (e.g., filters, belts, coils).
Conducts regular checks and maintenance on boiler systems.
Conducts regular checks, maintenance and operation of water heaters and water softeners.
Performs minor plumbing maintenance and repairs (faucet replacement, toilet part replacements).
Performs some carpentry repairs, painting, drywalling.
Repairs and maintains specialized equipment (e.g., mobility devices, ceiling track lifts, sterilizers, tubs, beds and wheelchairs).
Maintains mechanical equipment and completes minor repairs (e.g., pumps, fans, motors, kitchen, laundry, and housekeeping equipment).
2. Groundskeeping:
Mows, trims, prunes, weeds, plants, waters.
Removes snow and ice.
Operates, repairs and maintains groundskeeping equipment.
3. Other Related Key Activities:
Takes the on call phone and responds to all calls evenings and weekends. These hours are paid and occur for 7 days every 3 weeks according to the schedule. Must be available within a reasonable response time while on-call.
Processes work orders and maintains documentation and records.
Works with contractors.
Working in confined spaces.
Ensures all work complies with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Infection and Prevention Control Standards.
Cleans work areas and disposes of waste.
Maintains inventory (e.g., orders parts/supplies, ships/receives).
Provides occasional guidance to the primary function of others, including training.

Basic computer skills
Ability to work independently

Knowledge of tools and equipment
Valid driver's license
Course on working in confined spaces an asset
Experience with using maintenance software
Experience working with boilers and air conditioning systems
Experience working with pools
Requirements:
Prior twelve (12) months previous experience in a maintenance environment (e.g., commercial or industrial).
Fireman Boiler Operator certificate
Pool Operator certificate
