Cambrian College's Facilities Management requires a full-time Maintenance Plumber beginning July 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance and Building Services, the Maintenance Plumber maintains, repairs and/or installs the college's plumbing and HVAC infrastructure, fixtures and equipment. This role requires a licensed Ontario Journeyperson Plumber (306A), experience in commercial and/or institutional environments and strong knowledge of HVAC and Building Automation Systems. The ideal candidate is one that is organized and adaptable problem solver.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investigate, repair and/or report on maintenance issues related to plumbing and HVAC infrastructure and equipment as assigned via computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Complete repairs / minor renovation work as assigned, which can include investigation of maintenance issue and preparing estimates (i.e. time, labour, and material) including obtaining and reviewing written quotations from suppliers to complete the work (as per college purchasing policy).
Reviews Building Automation System (BAS) operation daily, assuring continuous operation of college's HVAC system and plumbing equipment. Adjusts system parameters and schedules to meet the academic and event delivery requirements of the college.
Provide support to contractors for procured repairs and maintenance work as assigned.
Carries out all duties of a licensed plumber pertaining to heating, water, sewer, drainage, and HVAC systems. Is proficient in the use of all trade related tools, procedures, and cutting/threading operations for piping.
Oversees and provides guidance in plumbing work to other maintenance personnel and to TFEE students.
Incumbent prioritizes and schedules all work assigned to them via CMMS or from manager including preventative maintenance work, inputting/closing CMMS ticket for all completed assignments.
Performs other related multi-function duties as directed, to assist another tradesperson, college employee, or contractor to accomplish a necessary outcome.
Gathers required information from asset inventory to fully understand plumbing and HVAC equipment and infrastructure operation.
Responds to call-out from manager on-call, for after hours emergency work.
Qualifications

Required:
Must have a valid and current Ontario Journeyperson Plumber (306A) License. (A copy of educational documents and licenses must be submitted with application education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application) Five years of experience beyond the apprenticeship period with a strong focus on facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire alarm systems.
Excellent knowledge of enterprise solutions such as Microsoft Office Suite, Team Dynamics (TDx) or equivalent computerized maintenance management systems
Experience with supporting third-party application such as BAS - Building Automation Systems in commercial and/or institutional environments. Must hold a valid Ontario Driver's License.
Self-directed individual with the ability to balance multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
Effective communication skills and good judgment and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills.
Commitment to working within a team environment.
Assets/Preferred:
Experience within an institutional environment, large commercial, or other mixed-use facility.
