The FMRP Maintenance Planner defines priorities for criticality of equipment and ensures that reliability centered maintenance tactics are reflected in the maintenance plans. The planner incorporates asset strategies and enhance planning processes to improve workplace safety, service quality and data accuracy.

Essential Functions:

  • Prioritize, plan preventative maintenance and repairs for all FMRP Mobile and Fixed Equipment/Infrastructure
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors to ensure effective use of manpower and materials to expedite maintenance repairs
  • Coordinate with Warehouse and Purchasing Departments to ensure parts availability
  • Coordinate with Supply delivery to ensure parts are delivered prior to work execution.
  • Participate in the set up and assist with the management of the FMRP maintenance management system for all surface plant and equipment including heavy mobile equipment
  • Research histories and prepare Asset Management plans for budget preparation
  • Prepare work packages to include conditions and constraints, parts list and develop best practices step by step job procedures
  • Actively support Safety and Health Management and Environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate positive two-way verbal and written communication
  • Perform all vital tasks to plan and schedule maintenance work
  • Maintain an accurate backlog and interact/connect with supervisors and other planners in achieving set goals
  • Based on OEM recommendations develop and generate PMs.
  • Develop task and material lists, building activities and review stock level requirements
  • Develop cost and equipment reports
  • Develop and issue all planned and reactive work orders and ensure they are scheduled in the maintenance management system
  • Compile and capture data from all work orders and determine performance statistics such as meantime between failures (MTBF) to improve preventative maintenance planning
  • Update maintenance planning documents (i.e. work packages, check lists, asset register, materials lists, etc.)
  • Track weekly and monthly equipment performance and work management targets
  • Control expenditures to comply with departmental budget
  • Draw up Bills of Parts & Materials (BoM) for work orders
  • Develop standard maintenance task lists for reoccurring ad-hoc and urgent work
  • Carry out procurement activities for maintenance and liaise with the Mechanics to ensure the right items are be ordered and that the priorities are clear to all
  • Expedite spare parts to execute work orders on time and within budget
  • Carry out any other tasks requested by the Supervisor
  • Improve the quality of planned work orders by periodically auditing how successfully the task was completed
  • Based on OEM recommendations and historical performance, identify and maintain a critical spares inventory
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:
  • Lead in commitment, accountability, respect, enabling, and safety including: character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision.
  • Solid understanding and applying of Yukon OHS regulations and compliance.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant maintenance planning experience.
  • Previous mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience with surface mining methods or heavy construction/earthworks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
  • Experienced in PC based software programs, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and CMMS/ERP software (Oracle/JDE or equivalent).
  • Ability to drive planning and scheduling of work and then execute on them.
  • Define, establish, and set Key Performance Indices (KPI's) and hold groups accountable to KPI's.
  • Manage the appropriate levels of labor, equipment, tools, supplies, and materials for each group.
