Maintenance Planner (electrical & Instrumentation)

Job Description

Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd., a leading bulk material export facility located on the North Vancouver waterfront is seeking an individual to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating detailed maintenance plans for all electrical and instrumentation systems at the terminal, particularly during turnaround events. This role ensures that all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities are properly scoped, scheduled, and executed in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. The Planner, Electrical & Instrumentation collaborates with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure minimal disruption to terminal operations while maintaining high standards of reliability and compliance. This role reports to Superintendent, Planning-Maintenance, working Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day.

Key responsibilities for this position:



Develop comprehensive maintenance plans for electrical and instrumentation systems, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Collaborate with the Superintendent, Planning - Maintenance to define the scope of electrical and instrumentation tasks for turnaround events and prioritize critical activities. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of materials, tools, and spare parts for all planned maintenance tasks. Create detailed job scopes, timelines, and schedules using project management tools, integrating electrical and instrumentation tasks into the broader turnaround schedule. Ensure all electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, integrating risk mitigation strategies as necessary. Work closely with third-party contractors, vendors, and in-house maintenance teams to ensure proper execution of electrical and instrumentation work. Maintain accurate documentation of all electrical and instrumentation activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring proper tracking of work progress, materials used, and labor hours. Monitor the progress of electrical and instrumentation maintenance work during turnaround events, making adjustments to schedules as necessary. Provide regular updates to the Superintendent, Planning - Maintenance on the status of electrical and instrumentation tasks, highlighting potential risks and areas that need attention. Conduct post-turnaround reviews to assess the effectiveness of electrical and instrumentation maintenance execution and identify opportunities for improvement in future turnarounds

Skills and Abilities:



Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including maintenance, repair, and inspection processes in an industrial or terminal environment. Proficiency in using CMMS and project scheduling tools such as SAP, Maximo, or Primavera P6. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex maintenance schedules and coordinate multiple workstreams. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in developing maintenance plans and work scopes. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors. Familiarity with safety standards and electrical/instrumentation regulations applicable to turnaround and maintenance activities.

Education and experience:



Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Industrial) is considered an asset. Technical Diploma or Trade Certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline (Red Seal or equivalent preferred). Minimum 5+ years of maintenance planning experience in mining, heavy industry, or a comparable industrial environment
