Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is required to work in a team and in collaboration with other trades and staff. Customer service, proactive communication, taking initiative, and team playing will be necessary for success in this role, in addition to technical knowledge.


Responsibilities Include:





Perform Work in accordance with legislated and company specific safety regulations:


Safely operates and maintains power tools Wears safety equipment while working (steel toed shoes, hard hat, safety vest) Inspects facility and tests equipment as required Reports any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator Always ensures the safety of tenants and coworkers In occupied suites, protects tenant belongings as per company guidelines

Completion of Work Orders related to:


Minor repairs of machinery and equipment such as trouble shooting appliance issues, air conditioning repair or water heater repair. May be assigned small projects that require some level of planning to complete including garbage removal, parking sweeping, painting, plastering, carpentry or plumbing, preventative maintenance, flooring installation. Other work orders that are more advanced requiring some planning and organization skills Follow standard operating procedures for completion of work orders ensuring that quality and service are achieved Cleans up supplies when duties are completed keeping areas clean as work is done May provide training to new staff

Customer Service:


Interactions with those involved in servicing tenants (our customers) is respectful, clear, and positive. This includes managers, Property Managers, Residential Managers and Caretakers and third-party contractors

Reporting:


Use of a Smartphone for texting, emailing, and recording work on an app Use of purchase order system to request supplies/tools/equipment

Other duties as required.


Job Requirements:





3 years of experience within building maintenance with exposure to one of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, or other trade related to building maintenance.

Ability to work independently.

Experience with Yardi property management software is considered an asset.

Valid Class 5 Driver's License

Must maintain clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Position may require time commitments outside normal hours of work to accomplish duties during periods of heavy work requirements.

On-call duties as required

Certification and licensing are required as per government regulations

Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk all day and to lift up to 50 kg
